It's been about four weeks since I called off the engagement with Keigo, the number two hero himself. People were shocked when the news got out about out called-off engagement. I got some judgemental stares and whispers in public but they don't know the reason for it but this was the freedom I wanted since he began trapping me in the apartment we lived in together.

"Hey! Hey!" A feminine voice call seemingly to me. I swirled around and saw what looked to be a journalist. My first thought was oh no. I hated crossing paths with journalists but I didn't want to be rude.
"Yes?" I questioned as politely as possible.
"Is it true you called off your engagement with the number two hero?" She asked, opening her notepad and grabbing a pen
"Yes it is." I sigh. I had been asked that question a lot and I was getting tired of hearing it over and over again.
"May I ask why?" The journalist asked.
"Maybe another time." I say and begin walking away before the journal grabbed my hand suddenly. I looked at her quickly.
"Please. I can treat you to dinner." She offers. For some reason, she seemed desperate.
"I don't want to talk ab-" I was cut off by the female who suddenly hugged me.
"I'm his secretary undercover. I want to know what's going on. He's cut pretty much everyone off even his own friends." The female whispered into my ear before moving away, "Please." She says again.
I was shocked before sighing in defeat and nodding, "fine." I say. The secretary nodded.
"Thank you. You of all people should know what's going on with him. Other heroes and me are gravely concerned for him." The female says softly.
Truth was, I didn't know what was going on. He wouldn’t tell me anything and I was his fiancée, "I'll give you what I know but he didn't tell me what was going on with him." I answered honestly. The female seemed to be caught off guard but she quickly nodded.

"I know the perfect restaurant for us to speak at." The female says in a whisper, "Follow me." I did exactly that until we arrived at the restaurant and entered. There were hardly any people so I could see why she'd choose this place. She also told me she was being considerate since she knew paparazzi would very much form in a much busier restaurant, alerting Keigo. It seemed she knew something I didn't and I wanted to know what it was.

We were seated at a table by another pro hero undercover and that's when I realized this restaurant was one that closed down long ago due to bankruptcy so these heroes were playing the part of waitresses, waiters, and customers. That'd explain the rundown building. The heroes surrounded us, all with worrisome expressions which worried me.

"(Name)...please tell us why you left Hawks so we can put together the puzzle pieces." The female whose name was Etsuko pled. That's when I knew something serious was going on. It made me feel obligated to tell what truly happened between Keigo and I. I took a deep breath and began speaking as they all listened with anticipation.

"Ever since that battle at the hospital, Keigo changed significantly and not for the better. He wouldn’t tell me what was going on and why he was acting so strange. Being the person I am, I begged to know more but the longer I was with him the more possessive and ominous he got. He eventually got to the point he kept me in the apartment and I couldn't leave without his permission. It got so frequent that I had to sneak out to go see a friend. She advised me to leave him and I did. However, he wouldn't let me leave so I had to take an emergency route out the window with him chasing me until I got to a large crowd." I explained. I wanted them to believe me and to my surprise they did.

"It's all coming together now..." Etsuko mumbled. I was confused now.
"What is?" I asked.
"When did you leave him?" Etsuko asked.
"About four weeks ago. What's going on?" I questioned, my voice starting to shake.
"That's when Hawks stopped showing up for work. That makes sense." Etsuko sighed.
"But that doesn't explain the other thing." Etsuko whispered to another hero.
"What other thing?!" I exclaimed.
One of the heroes began speaking, "We all think Hawks has resorted to killing after you left him. We can't confirm that, however." The hero explained.
"Kurou-" Etsuko began speaking but was silenced by the male hero named Kurou.
"She needs to know our suspicions, Etsuko. She was the closest to him after all." Kurou spoke seriously and I felt my blood run cold.
"Killing...?" I questioned, fear was apparent in my expression. I could tell.
"Yes but we don't know that for sure. However, four weeks ago, three people were killed and that started the day Hawks cut off any communication with other heroes." Etsuko explained, sighing.
"We think you may have to go under the protective custody of the heroes until we can confirm whether or not he's the one doing all of this or if it's someone else." Kurou explained, looking dead serious

I felt my heart pick up pace because of fear, "But what about my friends and family?"
"You'll have to cut off any communication with them until we can get this figured out ." A female hero standing beside Kurou explained, looking just as serious.
"Izanami is right. You must cut of communication with them so they don't get hurt." Etsuko says.
"What would they have to do with this...?" I asked, wanting the know.
Kurou reached into a bag and pulled out what looked like three pictures before he laid them in front of me. I looked down at them. My eyes widened instantly.

"Do you know those people?" Izanami asked, her tone blank.
"Yes..." I responded as tears pooled in my eyes as I continued looking at the photos.
"Can you name them, (name)? They're currently unnamed for us because the police and heroes couldn't find any identification for them in the computer system or on them." Etsuko asked, "Can you also tell us your relation with them so we have more pieces of the puzzle?"

"Yes..." I say softly, still staring at the photos before pointing to the first one, "This is Keiichi Soma...he's an ex from high school. We've been friends since the breakup, however." I say softly as I hear the scratching of pen on paper before moving my finger to the second photo, "This is Sayuri Takano. My former boss. And this..." I say pointing to the last photo, "This is Shiro Ueda...the guy I was dating when I was friends with Hawks in the beginning. We broke up a year before I got together with Hawks..." I explained, tears streaming down my face. I knew what they meant now.

Izanami hummed, "See what we're getting at? Whoever is committing these killings are targeting people you knew or once knew. This unsub know a lot about you." Izanami explained and I fell into panic. They wanted me to cut off communication in hopes of saving more people from getting killed.

"Have you had any recent encounters with all these people?" Kusuo asked.
"Yes...but they were only brief." I answered honestly.
"Even so, this person seems to be targeting people who you've also had recent encounters with even if it was a brief one." Etsuko chimed in. I was fearful now. I've been staying with Kameko so now I feared she may be the next target.

"Kameko..." I say suddenly which confuse the heroes.
"Who?" Etsuko asked.
"I've been staying with my best friend Kameko since leaving Hawks. Is there anyway she could be taken into safety as well?" I asked, hoping there was.
"Right now. You're our main priority." Etsuko sighed. Tears fell down my cheeks nonstop.
"BUT..." Izanami was quick to speak, "But, we can provide her with safety until she's out of the country because the unsub is finding and targeting all over Japan." Izanami says, "I'll personally pay for her plane ticket."
"You'll really do that?" I questioned.
"Izanami, you can't do that." Kusuo warned.
"Our job as heroes is to save those in need. If Hawks is the suspect, he surely knows where anyone is that (name) knows. He's a hero and has access to the entirety of Japan's electronic records and we can't revoke that unless we have the solid proof that he's behind all of this. The least we can do is help anyone who's a potential victim in their escape, heroes already don't have the best reputation due to our losses in the battle a year and a half ago." Izanami explains seriously.

Kusuo seemingly went quiet after that as Izanami turned to me, "Is there anyone else you want us to help escape?" Izanami asked. I greatly appreciated her offer.
"My parents and my sister." I responded.
"We can do that." Izanami says and I couldn't help but hug her tightly.
"Thank you..."
"It's our duty to protect the innocent." Izanami simply responded before Etsuko spoke up and I move away from Izanami.

"You'll be under the protective custody of Aiko. The hero of love song. She's new in the hero industry so Hawks wouldn't think twice. If it were anyone else of a higher rank, then Hawks would look there but he doesn't know about Aiko so protecting you will be Aiko's first big mission. Heroes of higher ranks will escort your parents, sister, and friend out of the country safely." Etsuko explained, her voice serious. I nodded head but was unable to speak because of fear. I'm glad they were saving my family and Kameko.

This was the start of a new chapter in my life and it wouldn't be the most cheerful and peaceful like most. Instead, it'd be full of fear and conflict which I was not at all looking forward to.
