Irritation. Fury. Disappointment. Sadness. All those emotions I saw in the golden eyes of Keigo. It was something I have never seen before and it scared me. I didn't know why he was acting so strange but he wasn't being himself.

He was snappy.
He was distant.
He always held a sense of irritation.

He wouldn't talk to me about what was bothering him but ever since the large fight with the Paranormal Liberation Front, he hasn't been the same. My thoughts ran ramped through my mind aimlessly. It drove me crazy but eventually, I decided to give him some space so I packed up some clothes and toiletries to go stay at a my parent's house. I figured that some time away from me would (hopefully) help him figure out what was wrong. Of course, I wouldn't leave him in the dark so I wrote him a note to let him know.

I remember well what that note said...

'Hello, my love. I hope patrol went well. If you're wondering where I have disappeared off to...I'm staying with my parents. You've been acting strange lately and you won't talk to me about it so I decided to give you some time to yourself because I assume that's what you need. Love you always, (name).'

When I wrote that note, I didn't know what he truly needed then but alone time was not it. I wanted to know then but I wish I didn't know now. After I wrote that note, I set it where he would most likely see it before leaving the apartment and heading to my car before heading in the direction of where my parents lived. Once I arrived, I walked to the door and knocked. My sister was the one who answered with a confused expression.

"Are you okay, (nickname)?" She asked curiously. At that time, she was still living under my parent's roof and attending high school. She felt I was down so she guided me inside, "Mom! Dad! (name)'s here and she doesn't look too good."
Before I could even blink, my parents emerged from the kitchen with worried expressions.
"Baby, what's wrong?" My mother asked while my sister sat me down.
"Can I stay with you guys?" Was all I managed to croak out.
"Why? Did something happen with Keigo?!" My mom asked worriedly while my dad suddenly looked like he was about to blow a gasket.

"He...I don't know what's wrong with him. He's been acting strange lately and he won't tell me what's wrong..." I explained to them. My sister and mother immediately hugged me while my father walked to the mantle where he had a gun displayed. I shook my head.
"No! Dad! No!" I quickly said and he looked at me like I was insane.
"What? He's hurting you. I need to teach him a lesson." My father stated.
"(Father's name)-" my mother addressed my father in a serious tone.
"Dad, he's not hurting me. I just said he needed some time alone. Nothing more." I spoke quickly.

He seemed to calm down after that but his hand remained near the gun. When seeing this, I continued speaking.
"You probably heard of the major battle that killed many and injured many more. He was one of the heroes fighting that battle. His wings were burned completely. His idol was hurt severely. Mentally and physically. His idol just found out his oldest son is the villain Dabi. I'm sure you saw the broadcast. Keigo is an empath which comes with hardships. He's just a bit out of it right now but I hope some time alone will help him straighten things out. So please...don't kill him. He's been through enough already." My voice was barely above a whisper. My father's expression softened as he dropped his hand away from the gun and joined the hug.

I remember feeling extremely relieved that he eased off. My father has killed before so I knew he wouldn't hesitate to kill Keigo. I wish I hadn't stopped him but then again, how was I supposed to know what would happen in the future? That's the problem...I didn't know which is why I defended Keigo back then.

---

It was around midnight and everyone in the house was asleep while I stayed awake and in the living room. I was unable to sleep no matter how hard I tried. It just wasn't happening because my ming was on overdrive. I so badly wanted to go back home and wait for Keigo but I couldn't bring myself to do so. It was pouring rain outside which was unpleasant. I was never a fan of storms especially those involving thunder.

I simply stared at a wall while my mind ran the longest marathon known to man. I longed for sleep to find me but it never did which was irritating. Then...knock was heard. I was now scared but like any dumb human being, I was curious and walked to the door and peeped through the peephole in the door and who I saw shocked me. I fumbled with the door locks before opening the door. There he was. Keigo was leaning against the doorframe as he looked me in the eyes. His hair was soaked to the point it covered his eyes. His hero suit was also soaked from the rain. Before I could say anything, his lips locked with mine. I was caught off guard as the rain hitting the pavement rung in my ears. He had me against the doorframe quickly. I ended up outside in the rain with him, pinned against the wall, caged in his arms. He pulled away after a minute or so. His gaze was hidden by the darkness.

"The last thing I want is to be left alone (name)...why can't you see that? I want you by my side always so please...come back home with me..." He sounded like he was begging.
"Keigo...no. how about you just come inside? You're soaked." I say. He narrows his eyes in response but doesn't hesitate to come into the house. I help him take off his jacket before I led him to the bathroom and entered, being careful not to wake up anyone else in the house. I closed the bathroom door behind me and grabbed a towel before I handed it to him.

"Dry yourself off..." I whisper. He takes the towel and began drying his hair and exposed skin after taking off his goggles and headphones. I helped him get his back before hanging the towel up.
"Keigo...you need to go home and rest. You look absolutely exhausted." I say softly only to be hugged tightly by him.
"I'm not leaving this house without you." He spoke into my ear.
"Keigo...I don't know what's going through your head right now but you need to knock it off. This possessiveness is getting out of hand and you need to quit it." I say sternly. I could tell he wasn't listening to me.
"I'm. NOT. Leaving. Without you in my arms." He spoke just as sternly.
"Keigo...please...just tell me what's wrong? You're behavior lately is scaring me." I asked, thankful the bathroom door was closed.

Before I knew it, I was pinned against a wall once more. I looked up into his golden gaze. His expression was blank.
"I need you. I don't want to lose you." He said seriously. I was confused of course.
"Wha-" Before I was able to finish my question, his lips locked with my own once more except this was more aggressive. He parted shortly after.
"I want to be wherever you are. I want you to never leave me." Keigo spoke, his gaze almost iced over.
"Keigo...what are you talking about?" I asked, or in better terms squeaked.
"Promise to never leave me (name). Promise me!" He said, his voice slightly raising but I was quick to hush him.
"Keigo, I've already promised not to leave you in high school." I reminded him, showing him the promise ring on my finger. He noticed it and kissed it before kissing me once more without another word.

"I'm staying here with you...I'm not going home alone." He says, parting temporarily from the kiss to speak before kissing me once more. At that point, I was scared of him. Back then, I didn't know the reason but now I know it was for a sinister reason for his behavior.
