Once you had picked out your outfit and put it on you stared into the mirror making sure your outfit looked ok. Your eyes worked their way up to your face and you sighed as you walked closer trying to get a better look at the pimple.

"How am I gonna hide this?" you spoke to yourself. After another minute of staring into the mirror, you turned grabbed your backpack, and walked downstairs. Once you got downstairs you saw your plate sitting on the counter with your food on it.

"Thanks, Auntie" you yelled out. "You're welcome baby" your aunt yelled back to you. You sat down and began eating. As you began finishing up you thought about how you would survive the day. Just as you started to feel the stress set in you shook your head to yourself. Nope stress brings wrinkles and wrinkles are the last thing I want on top of having this massive pimple on my face.

You got on your phone to try to distract yourself. As you scrolled through TikTok you saw an ad that your favorite show was coming out with another season. "Nice," you said out loud. "Nice what?" your aunt said as she walked towards you adjusting her blouse. "Nothing really, just my favorite show in the world is coming out with a second season," you said trying not to sound too excited. "Oh really? That's good, what's the show about?" your aunt asked. "Well.." You went on to explain everything thing about your favorite show down to the finest details.

Your aunt stared at you with a soft smile on her face. "What?" You asked. "Nothing, I just wish others could see these moments. The real you." She said looking deeply into your eyes. "What do you mean the "real" me?" You asked tilting your head to the side slightly. "Well you know, ever since your parents..." she paused, taking a deep breath and closing her eyes tightly as though trying to forget what happened. "You put up a façade, trying to be this perfect person when you're really hurting." She said softly. As the words left her mouth you felt.. exposed. As if she had seen through you.

"Auntie I'm not trying to be perfect, I'm just trying to enjoy life and high school." You said chuckling awkwardly, hoping that she hadn't seen your reaction to her words. "Y/n.. you and I both know you're not happy. You've been telling people that you're fine when we both know you aren't." She said, her face taking on a sad look. "Auntie I'm fine-" you started to say before you were cut off. "You didn't even mourn them, your loss, any of it," Auntie said as a tear rolled down her cheek. "The pain you must be feeling must be horrible. And for someone as young as you to carry such weight..." her words faded quieter and quieter as she continued speaking.

Those words brought back a memory. Though it was blurry, you couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sensation of sadness. Lost deep in thought of what this memory could be, something in the back of your mind seemed as though it was fighting against you. Trying so hard to keep the memories that you had repressed down. But after all these years they were finally beginning to resurface. You felt so close to remembering more than just a blurred setting and faint voices in the background. Just as you thought you were about to remember something new, you heard your aunt talking to you. "Y/n, Y/n," your aunt said shaking you by your shoulders. "You ok honey?" she asked.

Just as you opened your mouth to speak back, your alarm went off. "Sorry Auntie, I have to go." You said. "Yeah yeah of course," she said wiping the tears from her face with her sleeve. She pulled you into a tight hug, "We'll talk later, okay?" She whispered in your ear. You nodded. As you broke away from the hug, you could feel a tear fall from your eye. You turned away quickly hoping your aunt hadn't seen it.

Grabbing your bag, you moved swiftly towards the door, not looking back at your Aunt who wished you a good day.

Sorry this chapter took so long to come out, I've been a bit sidetracked lately. I should be posting more often soon though!
