Everyone's eyes followed you to your seat. Usually, you enjoyed attention but this time was different. You made sure to sit at an empty table, you didn't want anyone to bother you. You just wanted to sit down and disappear.

That little stunt Eli pulled in the hallway had your heart beating fast. You put your head down in hopes of giving your mind a much-needed break from the thoughts racing through your head. You closed your eyes slowly hoping to get a little sleep before your next class. This class was just AVID so you had the whole period to yourself.

That was until you were abruptly woken from your half-slumber by the sound of items clattering on the table and a chair scraping the tile floors. "Wakey-wakey sleepy head".

Please no. This isn't happening.

You grumble, internally willing yourself not to give in to curiosity and look, scared of what you might see. "So you're not gonna look at me?" The voice asked. "No, because you are a figment of my imagination. You're not here and I didn't embarrass myself in the hallway." You said still refusing to open your eyes.

"Well one of those things is true, but I think I seemed pretty real to you about 5 minutes ago." you could hear the smirk in his voice. "Ugh, please don't remind me". Hearing the words come out of his mouth was almost unbearable, how could you let this happen? Have some decorum. "Aww, why not?" Oh goodness. Take me far, far away from here. "Why me" you mumbled to yourself. "It wasn't that bad. You're making a big deal out of nothing." His calm tone sent you over the edge.

"What do you mean "It wasn't that bad"? It was the single most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me," you said in a whisper-yell. "Well, how about this, you open your eyes and I will give you a sincere apology" Something about this seemed off but against your better judgment, you opened your eyes. There was a big bright smile on his face. How could he be smiling like that after that hallway incident? You stared at him for a few seconds then broke the silence.

"The apology?" you reminded him. "Ohh yeah. I'm sorry." You sat there waiting for more, but nothing came. "Is that it? You've nothing more to say?" you asked, trying to force something out of him. "Umm yeah, that's all. It's not like I was the one that did anything," he said as he took his phone out of the side pocket of his backpack. His happy-go-lucky demeanor was quickly irking you. What was that? Sincere apology my but.

"You're the one that tempted me", his eyes snapped up from his phone. "Wait I tempted you? How?" Does he seriously not know what he did? "Well, what did I do to tempt you" he leaned in closer as the words left his mouth. "Y-you, y'know, when you umm, it was how you, y'know what I mean?" You could feel the heat rush up to your face. "No, I can't say I know exactly what you mean." You felt your face gradually heat up as you looked deep into his chocolate-brown eyes. You could feel yourself getting lost in them.

"Y'know what, it doesn't even matter. Let's change the topic. Tell me something about yourself." Your eyes darted around the room, hoping to find something even remotely interesting in the posters or walls surrounding you. "Oh ok, well I play football and basketball. I used to play soccer, run track, and do a bit of gymnastics and martial arts," You looked at him dumbfounded, "Is there anything you don't play?" You asked. "No, not really. I like to be multifaceted. What do you do to keep busy? You play any sports?" Woah is he genuinely interested in what I like to do in my free time? I didn't know people like that existed. "I'm in a few clubs but outside of school I just hand out with some friends or just chill in my room"

The rest of the second and third periods flew by. It was the fourth period and you and Eli were walking through the hallway. "So what class do you have next?" You asked as you moved through a crowd of prepubescent teens and wannabes. "Hold on, let me check" Eli dug deep into his pockets and pulled out a piece of folded paper. Once he unfolded the paper he read out, "Evette Drulowski?" Her name rang in your head and your body froze. The harsh feeling of guilt flooded your heart, feeling as though you were leading a little lamb into the wolf's den. "Like the English teacher Ms. Drulowski?" You asked now ignoring the seemingly hundreds of kids rushing by you. "Yeah, I think so?" Eli said now looking up from the paper. "What's with that look on your face? "What's wrong?"

"Oh Eli, sweet, innocent, ignorant Eli. Your next class is with the troll of Bridgewood High." Your hand cupped his cheek gently as you stared into his eyes. He suddenly burst into laughter. "The troll of Bridgewood High?" He said wiping tears from his eyes. "Eli she's a troll. She's small and mean and eats kids like you for breakfast." You continued walking down the hall rather quickly, leaving Eli moving desperately through the crowds of teenagers in an attempt to catch up to you. "Oh c'mon y/n, she can't be that bad." He said, his voice almost overpowered by the chatter in the halls. "Ha "can't be that bad," he says. Don't make me laugh. She's not bad, she's the worst. Cold and heartless." You felt chills run down your spine at the thought of her. "Even if she is half as bad as you say she is, no one can resist my charms. I believe you're quite familiar with them." "Many people like you have fallen to the troll that lives in room 667, long before you were a thought in your parents' head." You said slowing down to look Eli in the eye. "Look, I get that you're new here and naive to the ways of Bridgewood High so I'll give you some tips." You took in a deep breath before you continued.

"#1: don't talk to anyone and if someone talks to you sit still and don't react. Try not to make any noise at all—also no sudden movements. You want as little attention drawn to you as possible. #2: she will ask the class a question expecting someone to raise their hand. Do not answer any of them, it's a trap. Even if you know the answer, be quiet and sit still. #3 Don't ask for anything. No water, no pencils, no pens, no paper, nothing. #4: always be on time. Don't be early, she hates "suck-ups and overachievers". Don't be late. Also, don't pack up until she tells you to. The bell doesn't dismiss you, she does." You took in another deep breath. "And #5, probably the most important one. Do not under any circumstances look her in the eye. She's more like a gorilla than a troll in that way. If you look her in the eyes, it's all over."

Eli let out a small chuckle. "Eli I'm not kidding. There's a rumor that back when the school was still new, a kid in her last period got dared to look her in the eye on the last day of school. At first, he wasn't going to do it but he eventually caved. According to him the eye contact only lasted a second. I guess that was all that was needed though. After that, nobody had heard from him again." You said dropping your voice lower. "That doesn't mean something bad happened to him. Maybe he just moved." Eli said his voice faltering just a bit. You could tell he was trying to hide that the story was getting to him. "Moved? And left his family behind? His family still lives here They don't talk about him though and no one dares bring him up. Who knows what happened to the poor boy? Anyways, we're here." You said. Ms. Drulowski's room was at the end of the hall. The lights were dim and they often flickered, sometimes giving out completely. You and Eli stood just outside room 667, nicknamed "a step up from hell". The bell rang out, but now it had daunting tone. As if it was calling out for you to run or a bell on Cerberus's collar. "Well, good luck and godspeed" You heard the door creak closed as you walked away. The bell rang yet again signaling that you were late for your favorite class of the day.

This chapter was longer than my usual chapters. Also I was gone for like a month, sorry.
