Callum woke up to the sunlight hitting his eyes. He groaned and slowly sat up. He rubbed his eyes and shook his head.
He lifted the covers and he got out of bed. He did some stretching before making his bed.
But as he fixed the blanket, he noticed a rolled up paper drop to the ground. He bent down and picked it, unrolling it to see the contents.
His eyes widened as his face morphed into an unreadable face.
Dear Callum,
I left this note to tell you that I left Katolis. I'm going to back to Xadia again. I'll find a place to live there. I'm sorry for the short notice... Don't try to look for me. It'd be best if we separate once and for all. Goodbye...
Love, Rayla
Tears formed at the corner of his eyes as he fought the urge to cry right then and there.
<><><><><><>Rayla walked through the forest. She had her knives in her hands and she was on high alert.
She narrowed her eyes and searched thoroughly. She has been walking for hours. So far she saw no sign of any danger or possible threat. But she still has to keep her guard up. Who knows what might happen.
She saw walls standing in front of a building from a distance. She was nearing the next kingdom.
She ran, setting her sights onto the kingdom's barrier. She was going for the land next to it as it connects to the path towards Xadia.
She ran and ran, not stopping until she reached the walls. She travelled in a speed faster than when she travelled with the gang.
You move quicker by yourself. It was something she learned during her time away looking for Viren.
<><><><><><>An hour has passed. Rayla sat in the spot behind the walls as she learned that no guards roam that area.
She sat against a tree, it's leaves covering her from the immense sunlight.
She drunk some water she stored into her bottle and wiped her mouth with the back of her hand.
She sighed and stood up. It was time she gets a move on. She was burning daylight.
She took her knives and continued her walk. She would run later on to save her energy.
<><><><><><>Rayla has travelled for hours. She came quite far actually. She was far away from the kingdom she passed by earlier and she was only a days away from Xadia. She was halfway there.
That's right. She travelled halfway from her destination in just a span of a few hours. She looked ahead.
It was already sundown. The sky was painted red, orange, white, and pink. It was a nice sight. Not to mention the soft breeze blowing through her.
It was peaceful. Something she never thought she would experience.
She took in a deep breath.
She set up camp right there. She got the firewood, food, water, and fire. By the time she finished, the sun had fully set and the moon had risen.
She sat down on the ground underneath the tree to rest befollre her meal. Just as she was about to close her eyes, she heard a sound. The sound of a twig snapping. She shot up and quickly got onto her feet. She took the knives from the back of her waist and prepared to attack.
A figure emerged from the shadows. It was a man. But not just any man. It was an earthrblood.
He looked to be about 40. He looked like a normal earthblood. Buff and a redhead.
"Well well. If itsn't a moonshadow elf." He chuckled darkly, a mischievous smirk on his face.
Rayla gulped.
The earthblood glanced at the fish layed out in front of the fire.
"Well, ain't it my lucky day." He said in a deep dark voice.
"What do you want from me?" She got into a stance, preparing to attack.
She had hid her knives in order to prevent them from being taken. This man was taller and bigger than her. And clearly, he could beat her up easily.
"You give me your things and I'll leave you alone. I want all of them." He said sternly.
Rayla took out her knives and charged towards him. However, he dodged the attack and grabbed her by the wrist, raising the assassin in the air.
She struggled against his hold as she wiggled in hopes that he would drop her to the ground.
Only finding his grip tighten, she surrendered. "Alright! Alright! I'l give you my things!" She caved. The man smirked.
He released his hold, making her drop to the ground with a resisting grunt.
He came over to her bag and took everything he thought was valuable. In this case, it was her food and water.
He walked away, her food in stuffed in his bag.
Rayla stood up and growled at the earthblood before frowning.
She had lost her food to an earthblood. She gave up fighting after just 2 minutes.
She had gone soft. She was pathetic.
"Dang it dang it dang it DANG IT!!" She yelled, throwing her knife on a tree, her heart filled with rage.
She panted, her teeth gritting. She clenched her fist and stood there, with head hung low.
<><><><><>It was around midnight. Rayla continued on with her travels. She didn't have any food, water, and shelter. What was the point of resting? It would be too dangerous anyway...
She walked through the dark forest, her posture slumped. She yawned, her eyes tired and groggy.
She walked slowly, her vision starting to blur. She was too tired. But she was only a few days away from Xadia. If she travelled all day and night, she could make it there in record time.
With that thought in her mind, she pushed herself to walk. She let out another yawn before she leaned on a tree for support.
Her eyelids got heavier as she started to slide down the tree. Eventually, she sat on the ground against the said tree and leaned her head back.
She yawned again and her eyes started to close. She fought the urge to sleep. But she finally gave in minutes later.
<><><><><><>A/N: From now on, the story is going to focus on Rayla's journey to Xadia. But there is going to be some pov's of Callum. And spoiler, there will be some romance when Rayla gets to Xadia😉. See ya!✌
