Katsuki sighed, slowly approaching his partner's room number. There was a lump in his throat and his eyes were puffy from having cried so much after getting a call saying Izuku was in a car accident. Falling asleep at the wheel just proved his point; Midoriya was overworked to the point where he was not only putting himself in danger, but others as well. He was lucky he hadn't struck anybody while going off the road, 'cause that could have resulted badly.
As his hand wrapped around the door handle, he pushed open to see tired emerald eyes landing into his. There he was, the love of his life, lying in a hospital bed with a broken arm and a busted lip.
"How're you feelin', love?" Katsuki forced a smile as he closed the door behind him, approaching the bed and taking a seat next to Izuku's waist. He brushed away a lock of green curls from Izuku's forehead with a sigh, awaiting his reply. He wasn't too thrilled, receiving a call from a police officer, saying his lover had driven off the highway and directly into a tree, forcing him to make his way to the hospital at four in the morning.
"I'm tired." The greenette spoke, his voice gruff.
"I told you, this fuckin' job is no good." Bakugou whispered, earning a sigh from the shorter male.
"Oh, please, not this. Not now." Izuku spoke, rolling his head to the side as brows furrowed.
"Yes, this. Yes, now. Fuck's sake, Izu, you were in a fucking car accident because of this damn job. It's wearing you out!" Katsuki argued. Midoriya closed his eyes, shaking his head with a frown.
"Kacchan, please. I already have a headache, I don't need you yelling at me right now." The greenette mumbled. "I know this job is shitty. And I'm sorry I wasn't able to be there for your birthday." He apologized, looking up to saddened crimson eyes. Katsuki felt a smile threaten to appear, hoping this might be the realization Midoriya needed.
The final straw; what would lead him to finally leave the construction site. However, his glimmer of hope soon disappeared as the greenette spoke up once more. "But, this job pays good. We couldn't pay the bills without it, 'kay? And finding another job takes too much time."Katsuki lowered his eyes, feeling the lump in his throat return. This relationship was emotionally exhausting for him. Constantly being worried for someone who clearly doesn't give a shit about themselves, it was draining.
Don't get him wrong - He loves Izuku very much. But the greenette wasn't his usual, cheery, happy self anymore. Not since he started working in the damn construction site, several months ago. He just couldn't keep up with it anymore.
"Alright, that's it." The blonde spoke, clenching his fists as he stood up from the bed. He stepped near the door, grabbing onto the handle before turning and facing the man he loves once again. "You've got a choice to make."
"What?" Izuku asked, confused.
"I'm going to live with my parents. Everything's set, I've packed my bags already and my mother's waiting for me. I'm giving you seven days to quit your job. If you don't, then we're done. If you do, I'll give you another shot." Katsuki explained. Izuku's eyes widened as he sat up in bed.
"What?" He repeated, this time his voice more high pitched.
"I'll stop by the apartment next week, Sunday. If you're not there, then I'll take your answer as you're still working, and don't want to continue this relationship. If you're there, we'll talk things out." Bakugou continued, shifting to face the door as he pulled it open.
"What-" Izuku choked, pushing himself up as he stared at his lover.
"A week. Make your choice." The blonde spoke again, finally stepping out of the room. As he heard the door click behind him, he couldn't keep a few tears from rolling down his cheeks.
This wasn't what he wanted, but he couldn't handle Izuku's recklessness anymore. He made so much effort to keep the freckled male healthy, to help him. But Midoriya always refused any hand that was lent at him. He didn't know why, but for some odd reason, Izuku was obsessed with his job and his job only. Nothing could pull him away from it.
Katsuki only hoped this would make him quit, and realize that there's better jobs out there. That he might still have a chance to become a great attorney. That their relationship could go back to the way it used to be. Full of kisses, cuddles, sex, hugs, laughs, tickles and happiness. He just wanted to have his Izuku back, the Izuku that smiled at everything. That had a pinkish skin tone, instead of being pale as a ghost with dark circles beneath his eyes. Beautiful glimmering green eyes, which had sadly been replaced by tired ones. The Izuku that wanted to become a lawyer, and help people that were in need. The Izuku that spent his time volunteering at the local library. His freckles barely showed anymore, and his body was a wreck. This Izuku wasn't the one Katsuki had fallen for, 4 years ago. This Izuku was someone who was nothing but a shell, working his ass off at a job that was slowly going to kill him.
Ruby red eyes disappeared through a wave of tears, Katsuki struggling to wipe them away. He shakily sighed, making his way through the halls. He knew what was left to do; make his way back to the apartment, where his luggage was waiting for him near the front door. Then, make his way towards his parents' house. He had given Izuku a week to make his decision; to choose between the construction site, or their relationship.
Now, all he had to do was wait. To carry on in life and hope for the better. He couldn't control Midoriya's decisions, he just had to ride the wave. If things didn't turn out the way he wanted it to, he'd find a way to become happy once again. He just had to wait, really. To wait for Izuku's answer. And he knew the next seven days would be the longest and most painful ones of his life.
