"I'm home." Izuku called out, slipping off his red shoes as he locked eyes with his lover.
"Hey, you're here earlier than expected." Katsuki answered, smiling wide as he approached the greenette. He removed the towel from around his neck, placing it on green curls as the freckled male stood up straight.
"I didn't want to miss our date. You smell really good." Izuku complimented, tapping his boyfriend's bare chest. It was clear Bakugou had applied some cologne, which the greenette always loved. It was far better than Katsuki's usual shampoo and bodywash smell.
"I see." The blond chuckled, watching his small partner rush into their bedroom.
"I smell like the restaurant. Do I have time to take a quick shower?" The green-haired male asked, speaking loudly as he picked some clothes from his wardrobe. He plucked out a nice button-down shirt he used to wear at his old job's meetings, and a pair of clean jeans to go with it.
"Our reservations are at seven, you have plenty of time." Katsuki's voice resonated throughout their home as the freckled man hurried towards the bathroom. It was only five o'clock, but he wanted to get ready as quickly as possible.
Bakugou watched the bathroom door close, followed by the sound of the shower beginning to run. He couldn't help but smile as he entered their bedroom, red eyes landing on the attire he had picked out earlier and set on their bed. A nice button-down shirt, a vest to go over it, and matching black pants.
He smiled, quickly changing into his attire and making sure the most important part was still in his pocket. The small black box he was hoping to flick open in front of emerald eyes that night. He had recently bought the silver ring at a local pawn shop, which held a pretty diamond on top. He knew Izuku wouldn't like a big one, so he made sure to get a small-sized diamond which barely showed at first glance.
"I'm done." Izuku smiled, walking into their bedroom. "Ooh, you're so handsome..." He complimented, playing with the hem of his boxers. Bakugou smiled, turning to face the greenette and his damp green curls.
"You showered quickly, damn." The blond commented, sitting down on the corner of the bed as Izuku hummed. "How was work?" He questioned, leaning back on his elbows to admire his lover as he got dressed.
"Eh, it was okay. Wasn't too busy, surprisingly. Saturday is usually the busy day, y'know, since a lot of people like to go out as a family and eat sushi on Saturdays, I guess. But today was really slow. I even had some time to discuss my salary with Todoroki and we settled on me getting a dollar more on my pay. Like, a raise. He's so kind to me. The job's not physically demanding, unlike construction." Izuku rambled. "I really love working there." He sighed, buttoning his jeans before sliding on his shirt. Green eyes trailed over his reflection in the mirror, buttoning his white shirt as he shifted to face his boyfriend. "What about you?"
"Pretty slow day, just two clients. Being a masseur is probably the easiest job there is." Katsuki scoffed, earning a smile on freckled features. He smiled wide himself, watching the green-haired male finish off his look with a belt.
"Speaking of massages... Could you give me a free massage when we get back from our date? My shoulder's getting a bit sore, from reaching on the top shelves in the freezer all the time, at work." Izuku giggled, earning an eye roll from the blond.
"Yeah, you didn't have to give me an excuse, or a reason." Katsuki chuckled, propping himself up on his hands. "I'll always be here to give you free massages, love. That's one of the perks of dating a massage therapist. I'm just glad you're finally accepting them, when I offer 'em." He scoffed. Izuku smiled, nodding with a giggle.
"Should we get going?" The greenette asked, glancing at his watch.
"There's still a good amount of time left. But, sure. Let's go." Bakugou smiled, standing up from the bed as he followed his boyfriend out of the bedroom. He stuffed his hand in his pocket, making sure the black box was still there as he made his way out of their apartment.
"I'm stuffed, I can't eat any more." Izuku leaned back in his chair, placing a hand on his stomach with a weak smile.
"Are you serious? You barely ate." Katsuki chuckled lowly, smiling at his lover's grin. He too set his fork aside, wiping his mouth with a nearby napkin. He glanced around to the other couples and groups, all chattering as they ate with smiles on their face. Everything was perfect, and things were going great so far. Of course, the blond kept checking his pockets to secure the ring, paranoid of losing it before the big moment.
"This really is yummy." Izuku giggled, forcing himself to take a final bite of his Katsudon. Bakugou scoffed, grabbing onto the bill that had been placed on their table a few moments earlier. He flipped it open, eyes scanning the price as he placed the correct amount in the slit.
"Should we get going?" He asked, looking up to emerald eyes. He couldn't hold back a smile as he wiped away a crumb from freckled features.
"Already? We can stay here a little longer, can't we? It's so fancy. I feel rich." Izuku giggled, earning an eye-roll from the taller male.
"Come on, I have other plans after this." The blond chuckled, grabbing his jacket as he slid out of his chair. Izuku pouted as he followed, a smile soon illuminating his face, eager to see what awaited him next. Katsuki wasn't the type to plan surprises which just added to the suspense.
"What're you planning?" Izuku asked, taking a seat in the passenger seat of Katsuki's vehicle. The blond smiled, shrugging.
"Y'know, we haven't been to the beach in a while. I was planning on taking a walk there with you, like on our second date. Remember? It was hot out, that evening." Bakugou explained.
"Yeah, I remember. I kept complaining about how hot and sweaty I was, you shoved me in the water. I was so insulted. Y'know, I don't even know why I stayed with you after that." Izuku giggled. "I don't regret it though, I love you so much." The greenette finished. Bakugou smirked at the memory, remembering how nervous he was on their second date. The first one had gone smoothly, but the second one was more stressful for him as he officially wanted to ask Izuku to be his boyfriend.
"I taught you how to stop complaining, eh? I did a better job than your mom." He chuckled, earning a nudge from the smaller male.
"Fuck you." Midoriya laughed. "Don't bring my mom into this." He giggled, poking at his boyfriend's arm. Bakugou smiled wide, stopping at a red light as his hand pressed itself on his thigh. He could feel the box through his pocket, along with his wallet.
Just a few more miles to go, and he'd finally be popping the question to the man he loves the most. Izuku was finally out of the shithole he had worked at for months. The shithole that had turned him into nothing but a shell, that put his body through hell and made him exhausted all the time. But now, the greenette was back to the way he was when they first met. Healthy, smiling, rested, happy.
Bakugou just knew he had to marry him as soon as possible.
One more chapter to go! :)
