I can't tell you how much I wanted to be with you.
I thought one day it might be.
But Fate had other plans and I had to leave you where I first felt you.
Dancing in my soul. Words by Jen

Poppy barely said 'Hello' before her husband began bossing her around and making her feel guilty for taking time for herself . " What are you doing there? I need you home . I need you to leave right now!"

"I'm just hanging with your sister and Michelle. Eating pizza." What was wrong with that?

"Pizza with Rey . No, I need you to go home and make some sandwiches and snacks . The guys are coming over to play cards and there won't be anything to eat. You'll embarrass me!" He rants.
Quinn had a mountain load of work to do at the garage. As a owner of a small used car dealership he was always swamped but found time to play Poker every Friday night. Poppy was expected to provided all the food and drinks for Quinn's guests, even though she had to help her two sons with their homework, do laundry and do her own studies.

" But I've been in class all day and I'm tired." She knew she wasn't going to win this argument.

"Class, big deal. And I've been working all day." Her husband pulled the 'my work is harder than your work'card. He used it every time they fought.

"You need to stop at the market and pick up some six packs and wine coolers too."

Poppy felt defeated, but she tried to stick up for herself. "I'm a woman Quinn not a menu. You just can't order me."
God , it came out of her mouth sounding so lame.

"Your just gonna have to fend for yourself 'cause I'm not coming home." She hung up the phone and rushed out of the kitchen to grab her coat, purse and text books.

She hoped the two girls didn't hear her quarrel with her husband. Out of their trio, she was the only one married and she needed to put on a brave front as if everything was just fine.
She wouldn't ruin Rey's moment with her own problems. Best friends don't take away the happiness of the other just because their own was missing.
They were like soul sisters, and joked that it didn't mater that Poppy was born in Japan and Rey in the USA.

" Sorry Rey, I gotta go." Rey looked up from a old movie she had been watching, to see Poppy heading for the door.

"No, no. You gotta stay and watch this." Rey reached up and grabbed Poppy's arm to stop her.

They turned back to the t.v. and watched two actors sing a romantic duet. The couple were gazing deeply into each others eyes as if they were the only two people in the world. No one else existed.

Rey and Michelle sat mesmerized by the song, while Poppy could only frown.

' Some enchanted evening, you will see a stranger.....
You will see a stranger across a crowded room...
And somehow you'll know , you'll know even then
That somehow you'll see her again and again.

Some enchanted evening, someone may be laughing,
You may hear her laughing across a crowded room,
And night after night , as strange as it seems
The sound of her laughter will sing in your dreams

Who can explain it, who can tell you why?
Fools gives you reasons, wise men never try.

Some enchanted evening, when you find your true love,
When you hear her call you across a crowded room,
Then fly to her side and make her your own,
Or all through your life you may dream all alone.
