Skylar carried her mother all the way to the hospital. The doctors dragged her away on a hospital bed but told Skylar and her brothers to wait in the waiting room. They waited for so long her brothers fell asleep, after what felt like forever, a doctor arrived.
"Hello Skylar" said the doctor
"Is my mom okay?" asked Skylar
"She's okay now, she's asleep" said the doctor
Skylar felt relieved.
"But she is terribly ill" the doctor said "she is going to need surgery"
"Okay" Skylar slowly said "and how much is it"
"I think for now you just maybe need to check on her" said the doctor
The doctor took them to see their mom. She was laying in the hospital bed, to weak to even get up. The three boys went to sit by their mom. Skylar went back out to the doctor, "is she going to be ok?" She asked again
The doctor looked down at her feet.
"How much is the surgery?" she asked again.
"I don't think a teenager like you should be worrying about how much surgery costs" said the doctor.
Skylar looked at her, "how much is it"
"It's..28,000 dollars" said the doctor.
Skylar felt something come over her, it felt like it was fear. How was she going to get that type of money.
Skylar nodded, "thank you" she said. She went back to her mother and brothers.
They were there talking for a while, and everyone was crying because Skylar's mom kept talking like if she was dying.
After a long while everyone fell asleep, expect Skylar, how could she fall asleep in a moment like this. She put her hands in her pockets when she felt something, she pulled it out and saw that it was the card that guy gave her. Skylar sat there for a minute, staring at the card. Skylar got up and left but not before leaving a small note behind saying "don't worry about me, I'll be right back"
A few minutes later, she stood waiting in the same alley where she first met the man. "Well look who it is" said a similar voice, it was of course the man. Skylar just stared at him, "so what's the job" she asked.
"Woah" said the man "you don't even want to introduce yourself, straight for the job"
Skylar just kept staring at him.
"Well my name is David" he said "David Fayz"
Skylar looked at him up and down, "Crystal" she said, "that's my name"
"Well then Crystal" he said "back to the job, you said you wanted to know what is was?"
Skylar nodded.
"I need you to steal something for me"
"Steal what"
"I'll tell you when the time comes"
"And how much do I get paid"
"Well... that depends on how well of a job you do"
"What does that mean?"
"Well what's important is that if you are able to bring me what I need then the pay should be at least 7k, do a good job and I pay you more"
Skylar thought about it for a second, "Fine. deal"
"Then we have a deal" he said
They shook hands.
"So what now?" Skylar asked.
"Well now you come with me" David answered.
They went to this really big house, like really big. Skylar looked around.
David saw her looking around, "pretty big isn't it"
"Yeah it is" said Skylar.
Something managed to catch her eye, it was like one of those spinning trophy cases but instead of trophies it was weapons. It had basically any type of weapon that could fit. She didn't realize that she was staring at it too long, David noticed her.
"Do you know how to use these" he asked.
"No" she answered
"Well feel free to learn if you want" he said
She turned to look at him in shock.
"They are all yours" he said with a smile.
"Having weapons could help you with this job" he said, he walked towards a door that was beside the weapons case, he opened the door and walked inside. Skylar followed. It seemed to be like a practice room, with targets.
"I'm not that good at fighting so I have no use for weapons" he said "but you are a fighter, and there's nothing wrong with learning a different way to fight"
Skylar was really excited, this house was exciting, the weapons were exciting, this whole occurrence was exciting. She couldn't hide her smile.
"Feel free to to play around a little bit or you can head home" he said "we will start talking about the job tomorrow"
Skylar decided to return tomorrow, she passed by for some food for her family. She used the money she had made the day before. She arrived at the hospital where she found her brothers watching the hospital tv.
"Hey you guys" she said "miss me?"
Her brothers went to hug her. "Where were you" asked Elijah. She said "I thought you guys might want something to eat that wasn't hospital food"
"You're too sweet Skylar" said her mom, she was able to sit up. Skylar saw her and smiled, "only the best for my family" she laughed.
She went and sat beside her mom, she gave the food to her brothers so that they would focus on the food and not on them.
"You're very sick mom" she said "they say you need surgery"
"I know" responded her mom. Skylar grabbed her moms hand.
"I'm going to keep going to work and I will leave the boys here with you" said Skylar "since we don't have the money to send them to school I'll teach them when I get back"
She turned to look at her brothers, "but I don't know if I can constantly bring them food, they will have to eat hospital food every here and there"
Skylar's mom brought her into a big hug, "You are doing so much for us, thank you"
That night everyone fell asleep, Skylar felt a bit relaxed, it had been a while since she felt like that. She felt like things might end up going good.
