The next day came the day that Skylar was going to head to David's house. After having showered at Caesar's place she went back to the hospital to spend the night. She hadn't stolen any money from anyone to buy food but she didn't have to worry much since the nurses always gave food to her mom and brothers when they were hungry, although it wasn't as delicious as the fast food they usually get.
Before heading to David's house, Skylar decided to take out her brothers for a bit, it had been a while since they left the hospital because they were still too young to go on their own. She took them to walk around the city for a little bit, she had slightly styled her hair to look a bit different because she didn't want to get recognized by anyone, especially in front of her brothers. They walked around enjoying the view and the people, Skylar used what money she had left to buy them ice cream.
She loved her brothers so much and it pained her at the fact that they are suffering right now, but she was planning on making everything good for them again.
After dropping off her brothers back at the hospital she went to David's house with the envelope in her pocket. She had been there so much that the guards just let her through without questioning her like they normally would. They did inform her that David was not going to arrive for another 20 minutes. She nodded as a thank you and headed inside to her weapon's room. She thought it was best to pass the time until he arrived. She decided to grabbed a couple daggers to practice her aim, if she had more time she would work on something new, maybe after the meeting.
The 20 minutes had passed and she was still in the weapon's room, she raised her hand behind her head to throw a dagger when suddenly she stopped, she felt someone staring at her. She lowered her hand to turned to look at the door, David was standing there. He smiled at her, "You have gotten really good at that" Skylar just kept looking at him. "Still not much of a talker I see" he said still smiling.
He then shifted his head indicating that they should leave and head to his office, Skylar saw this and set the daggers down. She followed after him.
When they made it to his office, David locked the door behind him. Skylar sat down in one of chairs in his office, she had a relaxed expression but while also crossing her arms. David went over to his desk and rested on top of it. They stayed quiet for a couple seconds. Skylar then raised her eyes, looking at David to see if he was going to speak. David looked back at her, "So.. did you find what I had asked?"
Skylar then pulled out the envelope from her pocket, she stood up to walk over and hand it to him. He grabbed it from her, and Skylar went to go sit down again. She saw that David was opening it, she hadn't opened it before so she started getting a little nervous as she wasn't sure if it was even what she was supposed to get. Her heart started rushing. David opened it and pulled out a small sheet of paper, he looked at it for a couple seconds. Skylar's heart was still beating hard. He then smiled at the sheet, Skylar assumed that meant she did good and relaxed a little. David nodded his head, "I can't believe you actually did it."
He turned to go around his desk, he sat down in his chair, still looking at the paper. Skylar walked up to his desk and stood there. David looked up from the paper to look at Skylar, "I am assuming that you want your pay?" he asked. Skylar nodded her head in agreement. David opened a drawer and pulled out a key. He then got up and headed to a door off to the side of his desk. He unlocked the door and before completely heading in and turned to look at Skylar, putting a finger over his lips. "This is a secret" he whispered and walked in. A couple minutes passed and he walked back out again, with a couple hundreds in hand. He handed them to Skylar before sitting down again. "There you go" he said while rummaging through his drawer again.
Skylar grabbed the money and started counting it, she looked up at David with an upset look on her face, "you said the pay was going to be 7 thousand, this is only 5 thousand 5 hundred." David looked up from what he was doing, "That is true I said it was going to be 7 thousand if you did a good job." Skylar cocked her head to the side with confusing. "But unfortunately it wasn't the best that you could do." Skylar got more upset, "Didn't I?" she asked. "Well" David said while standing up, "You were found out kind of quickly, don't you think?" "But I still got you what you asked for" Skylar replied. David leaned on his desk next to Skylar, her body hadn't moved but her head was turned to look at him, her arms crossed. "That is true" David replied "That is why you got paid" pointing at the money in her hand, "is that a problem?" Skylar was still angry but she knew that she couldn't do anything, for now. "No" she said, "I was just wondering" she looked down at the money in her hand. "Great" he answered without a second thought, heading back to his chair. "Plus if you want more money I can just give you another job" he said.
Skylar looked up at his once again, "What?"
"Well what you got me just now were codes" he said while raising the envelope, "obviously these codes are for something"
"Well what is it for?"
"It opens a safe, with lots of valuable things inside"
"And where is it?"
"That we do not know yet but if you accept this job then I'll let you know when we find out"
Skylar nodded her head in agreement, David reached out his hand and she shook his hand to accept. "Well then, for now that is all" David answered. Skylar turned around to leave, as she was leaving his house she stuffed some of the money in her pockets and put the rest into the belt of her pants. She was not happy about the pay but it was still a lot. Plus she was going to make some more money if she does another job.
