─── possible angst (im just not sure anymore) — past memories, overthinking
After Left 4 Head IV, some game that featured a space ships and Rover Spunc, you and the rest of the team encountered Alien Musk. The odd being, elaborated his whole scheme and big plan to get rid of Allison and to save his wife, and that it was so far mostly working. If none of you cooperated or went in with the plan, the grid would be shut down and the blackmail (You had no idea what the alien meant by that) will be made public because according to him, he was the hack in the entire system.
At first, you were just as into the plan as Eddie was... it didn't take long for you to quickly figure out his motives, you put two and two together from what you were listening in on. The brunette wanted revenge because he was the most mentally, as well as emotionally pained from being replaced by the Bravo Team bull. Your reasoning was similar (in a way) - You wanted revenge because she practically forced you into the other team and to help them sabotage the very team you were originally in, forced you to work against your friends and blocked any of your possibilities to ask for help.
But in the end, that woman was spared unfortunately and the alien shifter was shot with the guns he provided you and the rest. Supposedly, eliminating him caused a dead man switch and the blackmail was sent to every newscasting station... Let's not talk about what the blackmail material was.
Other than the list of wild events, Alpha Team was technically back and in order. The mansion was returned to the righful team. Eddie was back to his old self (thanks to you praising him as a great leader figure), Mason, Buck, and Tommy retired from whatever online occupation they previously had. You were still rather silent because of the crazy transition of things. Then, there's the artificial intelligence named Spunc. The apparent A.I. the guys got eighteen months ago.
You'd say there were some similarities between him and Stephen. To list a few, the obvious one was the glasses... then, their want to help the team. To you, their personalities were similar, in a way or two.
But as of right now, Spunc was on a wide TV screen, connected from the high ceiling, inquiring you about various topics as a method to get to know you better. Meanwhile the rest of the guys were doing their own activities as family reunion (You told them that you'll join in shortly).
So far, you were asked about your position and role in Alpha Team as the details he was given were vague. You answered him, confirming that you were the (tech savvy, main strategist, healer, support, etc.) of the group, going in detail of some events where you were clutch during missions back then. Spunc had a wide animated grin on his flat face, nodding, as well as gasping at parts of your tale.
This went on for some time, taking turns with asking questions. You struggling to come up with some and with him using the data he was given to relate to you. The next one, however, left you appalled.
"Why did you switch to Bravo Team?" Inquired Spunc, a seemingly pout or frown on his digital appearance. Those words caused a change in the atmosphere and you weren't sure if the artificial intelligence noticed. The way he worded it... Did the others think you willingly joined?
You shifted in your position, feeling the guilt crawling through you. The words had you recalling various of moments... The eavesdropping, your phone, the limited freedom, the pressure and demands, being monitored until you begrudgingly cooperated... You haven't noticed how haunting those months were.
An entire unsettling three months before Alpha Team was officially thwarted, then the dispiriting year and a half...
You had company but you always felt alone. Alone and terrified, confused and silently begging for it all to be a torturous dream still. Everyday since being moved to the Bravo Team, it all felt too bland and repetitive. Perhaps you were lying to yourself when you thought that the members of the group were alright or decent, they've always been so dull to you. You had wanted nothing more than to disappear whenever you were reminded of where you were and your status at the time.
If you weren't so helpless and curious... How things would've been different if you didn't walk down that corridor. The loaded gun against your head, being surrounded... Being watched. They were unreadable; at the same time predictable. You grew more and more sad and filled with despair with each passing day, how you kept it behind a facade of shy formality and of monotone speaking.
After a long moment of tense silence, Spunc spoke, robotic voice laced with worry. "Oh, you don't have to answer, (Y/n)!" He attempted to reassure you. Once a tear managed to slide out of your eye, he panicked, an exclamation point making itself present near him. "Oh, no, no, no, no!" Your breathing picked up and you clutched onto your sweater, your hand over where your heart would be, unconsciously shaking.
"It's okay! It's okay. You're alright. You're safe." His voice grew gentle and you gently wiped the tears away, beginning to calm down while the TV moved around, tilting, as a way to cheer you up. You managed a small grin and Spunc smiled in relief.
You wanted to answer his question, but chose not to. Taking a deep breath, you start up the little game again. "...What did you feel when you first met..." You paused, thinking of how word the sentence before just saying what was the easiest one. "...What did you feel when you first met Alpha Team?" You finally worded out.
Spunc contemplated on it, a loading screen taking over. Shortly, he answered. "I feel happy!" His emotions were contagious making you smile. "I got to meet the complete team approximately two days ago and got the opportunity to help them with their big mission!" He finished, humming, the monitor tilting around again (which had you concerned for the ceiling TV's condition).
That wasn't at all what you meant by your words. You knew he'd get it confused one way or another. You meant when you were out of the frame but considering it's Spunc, you didn't correct yourself. Instead, you let yourself grin widely and giggle.
