It is now Saturday and Bryan got progressively worse. He is very ill, he is now complaining of stomach pains, nausea and headaches and whatever water was put into his system, nothing was staying in. And his breathing is now shallow and his mouth is dry. "Hey Bryan, how are you feeling?" Jon asked while feeling his older boyfriend's forehead. Bryan couldn't bring himself to talk anymore due to his illness. Kim passed by their room and knew it was type 1 diabetes. She ran downstairs and went up to the phone and called Dr Hayley while everyone was having breakfast. "Kim, what's going on?" Simon asked. "Bryan's getting worse, I have to call Dr Hayley," Kim said, reading Dr Hayley's phone number next to the phone. "What's going on?" Richard asked in concern.
"He has diabetic ketoacidosis now, Bryan has kussmaul breathing," Kim said as she dialed up Dr Hayley's number. Jon then ran downstairs to the storage cabinet to get an oxygen tank and an oxygen mask. "Mind if I borrow one of your tanks?" Jon asked. "Errr why?" Roger asked in confusion. "Bryan's breathing is fast," Jon simply said. "Go ahead, when your blood sugar levels are dangerously high, you go into DKA and it's also a symptom of DKA," Andy said. "Thank you," Jon said as he brought the equipment up to the room. He plugged the oxygen tubing into the tank and waited until there's oxygen coming out from the mask. "Bryan, I know it will feel suffocating but you need to breathe this in," Jon said, putting the oxygen mask over Bryan's face. Bryan couldn't stop panicking and tears were coming out.
"I know, I know it sucks but Kim's getting Dr Hayley now, you'll be alright," Jon said in a useless attempt to soothe him. Meanwhile in the common room, Kim was still trying to get a hold of Dr Hayley until she finally picked up. "Hello?" Dr Hayley said upon picking up the phone. "Hi, is this Dr Hayley?" Kim asked. "Yeah, who am I speaking to?" Dr Hayley asked. "Kim Wilde, I'm a friend of your patients, Bryan is experiencing ketoacidosis right now and you need to come here fast," Kim said. "Oh my goodness, Rachel did misdiagnose him, don't worry, we're coming," Dr Hayley said before she hung up. Meanwhile in the hospital, Dr Hayley ran out of her office to get not only her girlfriend, Alex, but also Dr O'Connor and Dr Mills. "What's going on, Anne?" Dr Mills asked.
"Bryan has diabetic ketoacidosis, I have a very bad gut feeling that his blood sugar is very high," Dr Hayley said. "Poor kiddo," Dr O'Connor said. The doctors arrived at the parking lot with the ambulances and hopped in. "Where to?" The driver asked. "Basildon Academy," Dr Hayley said. The driver knew what the doctors were on about so he immediately drove off to the desired destination. After Kim hung up the phone, she ran up to Jon and Bryan's room. "Jon, bring Bryan down to the common room, the ambulance is coming," Kim said. Jon nodded and attempted to carry Bryan's weak body. He was lighter than he thought. "Let me carry the tank for you," Kim said, carefully lifting up the tank. "Thank you," Jon said and they all ran downstairs in order to place Bryan onto one of the sofas.
Bryan was hyperventilating and feeling so nauseous and his mouth was really dry. The ambulance finally arrived and Dr Hayley saw the petrified teen on the sofa with one of the spare oxygen masks and tanks. "Okay Bryan, I'm going to check your blood sugar levels if that's okay with you," Dr Hayley said. Bryan nodded as Dr Hayley grabbed a glucose monitor from Dr O'Connor and pricked Bryan's finger. Dr Hayley was shocked with how high his blood sugar levels were. "How high is it, Anne?" Dr O'Connor asked. "Very high, 300 mg/dL," Dr Hayley said. "Get him to the ambulance," Dr Mills said. Jon carried Bryan once more as Dr Hayley got the tank before the lights began flickering again. "What was that?" Dr Hayley asked. "Bryan has ergokinesis, he can manipulate any form of energy," Jon explained.
"So whenever he's experiencing ketoacidosis, the energy around us goes crazy, like right now because he's emitting heat," Kim said. "This gets chaotic whenever an alien hybrid gets sick then," Dr Hayley said as she loaded Bryan into the ambulance. Jon hopped in to be with Bryan and just held his boyfriend's hand. Bryan just looked at him in fear. "I know it sucks, Bryan, but the doctors will help you get better," Jon said. Dr Hayley started multiple IVs knowing how dehydrated Bryan was. And now, Bryan was fighting consciousness. He was very scared, he doesn't know if he's even going to make it until he reaches the hospital. "How do you guys manage to get his glucose levels without the need of a blood test?" Jon asked.
