"The trees Dom, the trees!" I look up in amazement and laugh.
"No, the flowers." He looked at me and smiled. I turned to him, my smile fading.
"Flowers?" I furrow my eyebrows.
"Flowers." He said bending down and picking a tiny, yellow flower. He extended his hand to me.
"Flowers." I beamed with a massive smile on my face as I took the flower. There was a silence as I walked to the edge of the hill and turned back to him.
"The flowers Dom, the flowers!" I shouted and laughed. The last thing I saw before I threw myself down the hill was his beautiful smile. I got to the bottom, the crushed yellow flower in my hand. I looked up to the trees, to the sky.
"The flowers." I whisper as goosebumps blanket my skin. I smiled.
"HURRY UP DOM!" I scream and laugh. Sitting under the hundreds of tall trees, I smile. Life is good. It's nice. Relaxing. Beautiful. Suicide doesn't even exist at this point in my life. A few minutes passed and Dom had still not rolled down the hill. Furrowing my eyebrows, I look behind me but he wasn't there. He wasn't coming either. Getting up, I trudged slowly up the hill. At the top of the hill, only my lonely bag lay. I opened my bag and saw a bunch of yellow flowers and I smiled.
I love you, Dom.
I looked out at the trees.
"Trees are cool, but flowers are so much better." I smiled throwing my bag over my shoulder and I left.

Waking up the next morning, I found Natalie at my house. Tears in her eyes, she still smiled.
"Where's Dom?" I asked sleepily. Tears erupted from her eyes.
"I thought he was with you, or you would at least know where he was." She choked.

Dom knocked on my window that night. As i pulled him inside, I felt his damp clothes. His tears fell as i put away my guitar.
"I loved him." He cries and I rushed over to hug him. He pulled me close and hugged me tight like I was the hurt one crying in their best friends room late at night.
"Where have you been?" I asked feeling his cold damp shirt. He wiped his tears.
"Alex..." He began. "I went to his house-"
"Why?" I interrupted.
"Because he told me to." He said in a 'duh' kind of way. I nodded and he continued. "So I went there, he was with Alex and Michael. They were pushing me around until I fell and then they started kicking me and pulling my hair and calling me a fag. Saying that I was worthless, a freak, that I should go and kill myself. Then they took me to Currimundi Lake and threw me in."
I foreword my eyebrows "they threw you in?"
"Yeah, well, you know how light I am!" He shrieked. It was true, the boy needed some sun and a fucking steak alright.
"True, even I can pick you up." I shrugged.
"Yeah and there was THREE of them!" He said dramatically. I nodded.
"I need to show you something." He said grabbing my hands. I pulled a little but not enough to get them free.
"But it's dark and late and I should be in bed."
"Is your mum home?" He raises an eyebrow.
"N-no." I hesitate. He shrugged telling me that I just clearly proved his point. I gave in and jumped out my window after him.
I remembered back to the first time I went to run away and I jumped out of my window and landed on a rusty nail.
We ran down Nicklan Way, turning left at the zebra crossing to run past all the rich houses. Their pretty perfectly watered and weeded gardens, with their short posh little trees spreading over onto the walk way making us have to duck to get through. We made it to Currimundi Lake/Park and ran through the park to the water.
"Dominik, what are we doing?" I ask placing my hands on my hips. I looked down, noticing that I just ran 4 streets and a main road in my cupcake flannelette P.J's.
"I built us something." He took my hands. "A place where we can hide. Away from all the bullies." He smile.
"Where is it?" I asked excited. He pointed across the lake.
"Over there..."
"But... All the way over there?"
"I need to get away, and I want you to come with me." He begged. I pulled him to the water.
"Show me this place. Where we can hide."
His face lit up and even in the Queensland dark night sky I could see him gorgeous smile. I held my breath as I stepped into the water, following Dom. We swam over to the other side, not being able to touch the bottom half the time. As soon as my feet hit the squishy dirt thing whatever was in that water. I wish I never put my feet down. Dom helped me out of the water. My P.Js drenched with water and weighing my down. Like an anchor. Drowning me at sea.
He showed me a tree house. Veins dripped in the water and he had made seats with them. I smiled.
And we ran away.
Everyday.
To the place
More home to us
Than where our families where
Where our food was made
And where we slept.

He was my home.
My shelter.
My tree house.
My saviour.
My protector.
My flower.

Someday I hope to be someone's flower.
Like.
He.
Is.
Mine.
