Shifting

Josh's P.O.V

When we reached the pack house I quickly parked and Jake opened the side door and lifted her lifeless body.

We ran through the rain and went to the doc's house.

"Lay her on the couch " the doc said. He placed his hands gently on her pulse and shook his head

"What?! What's wrong?!" Jake spoke my thoughts

"Her pulse is very low I have to get her to the hospital or we'll lose her"

I stepped to pick her up but Jake sidestepped me, I gave him a look and he growled at me. Ignoring him I followed them out and kept praying that she would survive.

"I'm going to need you guys to stay out here" the nurse said to us once we were in the lobby.

Two hours later we were still waiting on how she was doing Aoife and Liam had joined us and the air was thick with tension.

"Amelia Rosewood?" The nurse called out.

"That's us" Aoife replied

"Are you family?" The nurse asked nervously

"Listen we have been sitting here for the last two hours with no information, now tell us what you know!!" Jake shouted using his alpha tone on her

"Y_yes well Ms. Rosewood is suffered a lot of trauma she had internal bleeding and a slight concussion lucky for her she's healing even if it's slow for a wolf she should be awake soon she is in room 4A and you can go see her"

" Thank you" Aoife mumbled and the nurse nodded and walked off.

Silently we all made our way to the room laying there on the bed was my Amelia with so many tubes coming out of her connected to a machine that beeped any time she exhaled. Aoife say on the only chair and grabbed her fragile hands, she started to sob and tears rolled down her face. My heart was aching it was literally too soar to breathe.

Lia's hair was scrapped back leaving her pale face on full view, she had a big purple bruise under her right cheek bone and a couple more spread across her face.

For a while the only sounds in the room were the constant beeping and our rhythmic breathing.

"I'm going to go get some coffee does anyone else want some?" Aoife asked

"I do, I'll come with you" Liam replied while Jake and I nodded.

It's really weird standing there looking at my two best friends. Jake has never been one to care about girls, he just used them but the girls always came back like they loved the idea of trying to fix him. I can't get my head around the idea of why he was here, why he cares so much about my other best friend one who has been through so much. I love Amelia I wish that I'm her mate and I can be, sometimes it happens late it takes something to trigger it. I don't know why Jake is acting this way but one thing I know is that I won't let him break Amelia anymore.

Amelia's P.O.V

"Welcome back" were the first words I heard when I opened my eyes, I was still waiting for my eyes to adjust to the light but I could tell it was Aoife.

"You gave us a fright you know" she said squeezing me.

"I'm sorry" I mumbled

"It's ok, just don't do that again I need you" she said tearing up and Liam stepped up to console her. Looking around I noticed that Josh, Rachel and Jake were there also.

"Hey guys" I said and they all gave me sheepish looks

"How long was I out for?"

"Just over two days" Josh answered
