Chapter 1 | Feral Instincts

When there were sightings of the last few humans in the world, they were deemed endangered and kept in facilities to keep them safe. It was not until the first-ever human came into a coed herbivore and carnivore school.

They looked at her weirdly and how "furless" she was. The only "fur" they could see was on top of her head. It took a while to get used to seeing a human. The first ever animal that went up to her was a red panda named Mei in her batch. Soon after, she met a nice little bunny named Haru in the same batch as them. They soon became friends and became part of the gardening club.

Her life in a different environment was hard. No one seemed to want to help her or talk to her at first. It wasn't until later this semester that they grew curious about the human, seeing how kind and caring she was yet so intimidating. It didn't take long for others to know about her. She met many people, but no one could beat Mei's chaotic energy and Haru's calm and oblivious yet obvious energy.

She also became friends with her roommates, which consisted of canines. The facility stated that humans are much calmer with a canine companion due to how fluffy and loyal they are. So, the school did that. She wasn't particularly attached to either of them, however, they were much like siblings to her.

Misaki's daydreaming came to a stop when Mei began to squeal. "What?" she looked over at the excited panda. "What happened?" Haru asked. "F4 is going to have a concert soon!" Mei squealed in delight. "Oh, is it, huh?" Misaki asked as she looked at Mei's phone.

All three of them were at the back of the cafeteria building, having nowhere to sit and none of the two's other friends wanted to sit next to Haru. "Misaki won't be able to come, though," Haru mentioned. "Oh, right. The whole 'can't-be-seen-by-anyone-outside-of-school' thing," Mei mentioned sadly. "You guys can go ahead though. They'll be streaming it live, which is cool. It's not like I'm missing out or anything," the human said.

"We can watch it all together instead so that all of us can join in. I heard that concert tickets are expensive," Haru cautiously mentioned. "Yeah, alright," Mei answered lightly. "If you want to go, you can go with your other friends who like them," Misaki told her. "But I want to spend it with you two," Mei glumly mentioned.

"Haru, Mei, Misaki!" All three looked over to see Sally the squirrel. "Oh, hey, Sally, are you heading back to the dorm?" Haru asked, but all she got was a sigh. "Why're you all eating your dinner here?" Sally asked the trio. "There weren't any seats left so we went here instead," Misaki replied. "If you're so worried about us, why don't you eat with us?" Mei asked curiously.

"I can't," the squirrel said, "I can't be seen together with Haru. Everyone in this school knows what she did," she added. "That figures. Everyone's been avoiding eye contact with me for the past two days," Haru mentioned. "Words spread so easily here," Mei complained. "Well, that's what we get for having a small community here," Misaki commented.

"That girl is really mad about it. Take it from your roommate, okay? You should try to act less resilient," Sally said before leaving the trio. "That boyfriend of hers is a cheater and a jerk though," Misaki suddenly said out of the blue. "True! Like, how does she not see it?" Mei agreed. "Well, we should finish up our dinner. We'll accompany you back to your dorm, Haru," Misaki looked at Haru.

"You don't have to," Haru declined. "We insist," Mei hugs Haru with a smile. "Huh?" Mei suddenly exclaimed. "A walnut shell?" Haru asked as she picked one up. "Oops! I dropped it!" The three looked up to see Mizuchi, the harlequin rabbit. "No doubt some boy will come running to save you," she added.

"Ugh, Mizubitchy," Mei rolled her eyes. "You're still holding out quite well. I'm surprised you still got friends that deal with you," Mizuchi commented bluntly. "We don't care what you got to say," Misaki rolled her eyes. "Why don't you scram? We got no time to deal with you," she said as she ushered the two to get going.
