Once I got unpacked Miss Peregrine told me that I would sleep in her bed and she would take the couch in her room. I argued with her saying that she needs the bed but she cut off the argument due to the fact she needs less sleep than normal people. You still want to be comfy but whatever. I did soon realize that I forgot to pack pajamas, and that's where I am now, laying in Miss Peregrines huge bed in her navy blue pajamas.
I toss and turn, it's around two AM now, so we've been laying down since almost one. Miss peregrine stays still, but her eyes are wide open and every once and a while she will pick under her nails, or should I say talons. Eventually I got tired of me tossing and turning and I just lay on my back, staring at the ceiling as rain thudded against the window. I groaned, super tired, but unable to fall asleep.
"Having troubles?" I hear miss peregrine ask. "Well, obviously." I say with a sigh as I turn on my side and look at her with my hand propped up on my head. "It's not good to stare honey." Miss peregrine says with a smile. "I-..okay sorry, but it's hard not to." I say with a roll of my eyes. "Hm, never heard that before." Miss peregrine says as she sits up. "I'm trying to sleep here!" I say loudly as I turn the other way, so I cant see her.
Soon I feel an indent in the bed behind me and I feel a warm arm wrap around my waist, and cold breath against my neck. My breathing become heavier as I realize who's behind me. "Why is your heart beating so fast, tell it to stop copying mine." Miss peregrine says with a smile, obviously trying to get me distracted. I reach my hand behind me and place it on where her heart would be, and it's beating 10x faster than normal. "How?" I question as I pull my hand away and I turn around so now I face her. "Ymbryne's hearts beat a lot faster, they normally beat similar to their birds hearts. Now I came over here to help you sleep, so just close your eyes, and try to fall asleep." Miss peregrine says with a warm smile. I scoot closer to her as her arm still is wrapped around my waist, holding me close. I close my eyes and when I'm so close to dozing off, I feel her kiss my forehead.
My cheeks heat up, but I soon fall into a deep sleep. I definitely will not forget my first night here.
