As the months progressed, Izuku and Aang spent a lot of time together. In the beginning, Aang showed Izuku an easy way to start his air bending training. He placed a leaf in Izuku's palm and told him force the leaf up into the air. After a few hours Izuku, nailed down the exercise and the leaf blew into the air. The next exercise was to create a little swirl of wind with one's hand to make multiple leaves twirl in a circle. After a few days, Izuku was able to create a mini swirling breeze. The next exercise was a crucial one, the ability to cut/rip a leaf by shaping the wind to become sharper, giving it shape. And after a week, Izuku was able to do that as well.
Aang, also began to introduce Izuku to simple wind blasts. After a week or so, Izuku was able to develop more power into his air bending abilities. Being able to direct the ball in their games, but he was still unable to control the flow of air after it left his hands, or to completely envelop the ball with his air bending as Aang did. A couple of months later, Izuku was finally able to create larger gusts of wind with more power to them. As well as forming and controlling the air after it left his person. Soon enough, air ball became a whole lot more fun for the two of them, yet Izuku was still not able to win. Izuku also started to realize that he no longer tends to look at where he's leaping as much, and that it's not as hard to get from post to post during their games. He thanked all of that to his gymnastics training and multiple failure while playing.
With a year gone, Aang decided to pull Izuku out of his training of the basic and air ball and begin to work on essential things. Like how to fight and think like an air bender.
Aang: "Okay Izuku, I hope you are ready for the next level of our training."
Izuku: "I am Master Aang."
Aang: 'He is still so serious. Guess we should have a bit more fun before getting to the fighting.' "Well good, but let's show you some more way of an air bender. I think it time for you to meet someone." *Aang goes in his cloak and reached for a whistle and blows it*

Izuku notices the sun disappear for a moment. Looks around and sees something huge land. Just completely stunned by the huge beast... Bison that is in front of him.
Aang: "So, Izuku. Meet Appa, my flying Bison. isn't he great! Come on Appa show him something cool."
