Her hand quivered as she went to pick up the book, her whole body started shivering, and her lips started trembling, she wanted to know what this was all about, what this book held, what her feelings were when her eyes set upon this book, how old is it? what secrets hide behind this? Sparks flew through her as she held the book in her hands, " Open it Jisooya, does your courage fail you? " her mind taunts her " Yes it does" She wants to scream at her mind. " Taehyung, Taehyung, Taehyung" her mind chants as she touches the corners of the exquisite leather " Meet Taehyung, Need Taehyung" it chants, Jisoo gives an inward slap to her mind.
Jisoo moved her hand through the first page of the book, her knees were shaking, the handwriting on the book stated " March 26th, 1752 " in her very own handwriting......
Arundel, 1752
Sooji couldn't believe that she would find herself riding a horse with Mr. Korean Bandit, one of her father's many enemies. As they continued their journey, Sooji couldn't help but notice Mr. Korean Bandit's constant irritated glare. "What a beautiful flower!" exclaimed Sooji, earning yet another irritated look from him. Sooji admired Mr. Bandit's moonlit hair, his eyes reminiscent of the tea her mother used to make for her. "It's a yellow rose, Mr. Bandit!" she insisted, clutching her white parasol. He responded with a mix of anger and irritation, telling her to pick it up before he threw her out. Sooji gratefully collected the roses and tucked them away in a hidden pocket of her torn gown. Since her mother's passing, she had never seen a horse before.
"These roses are for you," Sooji said with a smile. Mr. Bandit rolled his eyes and dismissed them, claiming they would end up in the trash. But Sooji continued to grin at him, feeling as though she had come to know him well. She wondered what his camp would look like as the rest of their journey unfolded.
Time elapsed as she awoke to the irritated and angry sighs of Mr. Bandit, signaling that dawn had already arrived. She had been sleeping on Mr. Bandit's shoulders for a duration of four hours."Are your shoulders uncomfortable?" Sooji asked with concern."No, Your Majesty," he replied sarcastically, rolling his eyes. This caused Sooji to burst into fits of giggles. Despite the Korean Bandits becoming feared in her kingdom, she found herself laughing behind their leader, away from her impending wedding and royal responsibilities."Please keep your eyes open," the man advised."Tell me your name," Sooji pleaded. "I'm tired of referring to you as Mr. Korean Bandit or Mr. Bandit.""Just call me... Hyuntae?" he responded with a puzzled expression."Call me Sooji," she grinned, pleased to finally have a name to address her savior. In the first rays of sunshine, a grand tent resembling a villa loomed before them. "This is the Arundel Bandit's camp," Hyuntae stated wearily. "You need rest," Sooji remarked, admiring the tent from the small hill they stood upon. The hill was adorned with lush green grass, bushes, and roses. There was something unique about the flowers; Sooji observed the vibrant red color of each petal, finding them incredibly beautiful. She felt drawn to the flowers, knowing their symbolic representation of love."I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself, Princess," Hyuntae asserted. "Sooji, please," she retorted, glaring at her bandit savior. "I would prefer Princess," Hyuntae smirked, leading Sooji down the hill. "And you can't wander around the camp dressed like that," he added, gesturing towards her numerous layers of white silk skirts."What other suitable attire do I have?" Sooji frowned. Hyuntae handed her a dress. "It belonged to my sister. Change behind a tree or something and then come out," he instructed, looking away. "Alright, I suppose," Sooji smirked. "Now I am at your mercy..."
" How do I look! " she cries turning around and spinning " Very ugly, Princess " Hyuntae says rolling his eyes " Now can we go under your permission? " " Yes, Yes,Yes! " cries Sooji, It probably was the first time she wore something so simple and comfortably. But she kept her eyes on the huge tent that towered over her, " Come in " whispers Hyuntae as he draws the flaps on the entrance of the villa like tent.
Everyone stood up and bowed to Hyuntae who carelessly took a seat while crossing his legs like a king " This, " he starts " Is the Princess who's land and mercy we live on " he says sarcastically towards Sooji, Everyone who were about 167 people there gasped and murmured. " Treat her with due respect I guess, " Hyuntae says and changing the subject " Any news from the princess's father? " which made Sooji gasp now, Ignoring her a tall man stands up " The King is with the Emperor now, which makes our plan postponed a few days atleast , because of the Princess running away " he adds looking at Sooji. " Thank you," says Hyuntae " Revenge and freedom is not far away my people " he says and stalks off leaving Sooji with total strangers who were probably plotting something against her father. But a girl about 16, 2 years younger than Sooji walks up to her and says softly " Come upstairs, Princess. " she says shyly while holding her hand out, Sooji smiles softly and nodding while taking her palm in hers " You're wearing my dress I see, " grins the girl while eyeing Sooji brightly " You're Hyuntae's sister? " Sooji asked suprisedly " Yeah, My name is Hyunda " she smiles, " I'll see to my brother, Princess " Hyunda says, " Please call me Sooji " Sooji says shaking her head " Princess sounds more royal! " Hyunda giggles
" How are you Hyunda? " Hyuntae smiles at her while taking her in his strong arms " I'm fine, after you have a lady to court" she grins mischievously " Hyunda, no " says Hyuntae darkly,
" Why not, Brother? " Hyunda pouts playfully " The princess needs a knight to protect her " said Hyunda grinning but her brother shook his head " Remember what Dad told me right? " he whispers which makes Hyunda's eyes glassy " You must be tired " she says rubbing her soft eyes " Lie down " she sighs and leaves
What are they planning against her father? Sooji thinks wryly , are they going to hurt her family, should she go back? Isla doesn't know any of this ! What If Isla is hurt ? And she didn't want her father hurt even though he might be devilish. What about her friends? What about her people who doted on her! What about the whole of Arundel? Why was she in the refuge of her people's enemies? What has she gotten herself into?
