"You told your dad about me?" I asked quietly as we walked through the arena's hallways for Jon's match against Hangman. "Well, yeah, I did knock you up." He mumbled back, making me snort. "Oh gee, I can feel the love," I grumbled, stopping just shy of the door into the crowd. "Can you not be a fucking brat for once" he groaned loudly, his words halting the conversation that had been quietly happening between Wheeler, Claudio, and Dan. "Good luck. I know you can beat him," I stated softly before I turned and walked away from the man, Claudio quickly catching up with me. "Are you alright?" He asked softly as we made our way back to the locker room. "Do you ever feel like you've made the biggest mistake of your life, and there's no way you can return from it?" I asked quietly, shoving my hands into the pocket of the sweatshirt I had stolen from Jon earlier in the night. "There's no mistake you can't fix Love," he denied, making me chuckle. "I left the little bit I had behind, everything I had ever known behind, because I'm carrying his baby. Once this baby is born, he has no reason to let me keep hanging around, and I can't beat him in a custody battle," I whispered, stopping just shy of the locker room where Bryan was still inside, prepping for his match later. "I have nothing. I was a stripper living out of a shitty one-bedroom apartment. Barely taking care of myself, there's no way that anyone would let me keep this baby," I sniffled quietly, being pulled into the man's arms as soon as the words had left my lips. "Lyra, I don't have anything to say to make you feel any better," he admitted, both of us knowing that my fear was a high probability. "Hey guys, what's up?"
Wheeler sounded, dragging me from Claudio's comforting arms to see him and Jon's father staring in confusion. "I'll meet you inside," I whispered quickly, wiping my cheeks before I entered the room, leaving them alone. "Hey, Bry. Are you ready for your match?" I asked quietly, my eyes watching the TV as the man sighed heavily behind me. "I guess Brie is not happy, but I need to do this," he sighed, standing beside me. "She'll understand. She's just worried about you right now," I assured him, having only spoken to his wife over the phone but knowing she cared about her husband a lot. "Oh, Jon," I whispered, watching as the win was sullied by Adam being a sore loser and attacking the man after the bell; turning quickly, I moved for the door to get Claudio and Wheeler to help him.
OTHER POV
All three men watched the back of the small girl as she walked into the locker room, nearly swallowed by the oversized hoodie she was wearing even at six months pregnant. "She's afraid as soon as she gives birth, Jon will take the baby and make her leave. She knows she has no chance in a custody battle against him," the Swiss was saying as soon as the door was separating them from the girl. "Now, hold on. I don't know what Jonathon, you know," Dan started to say. "With all due respect, Mr. Good, that baby she's carrying was the result of a drunk night out. She's here because Jon doesn't want his baby, his mistake, to suffer. He couldn't care less about the girl carrying it." Wheeler informed, saying what everyone close to Jon knew. "First thing he made her do was to go get a paternity test to be sure it was even his," Claudio added quietly, a tense silence filling the hallway, only broken by the creak of a door. "Hey, Jon needs you. Hangman isn't handling the loss well," the young woman informed the two black pool combat club members, both men rushing for the ring, leaving the mother to be with the grandfather-to-be. "He's not a bad person," she whispered. "And I don't blame him for dragging me along until it's born; I could barely take care of myself the way it was. And I won't blame him for taking full custody; I can't give this baby any life except a dirty apartment and barely surviving." There was another long pause. "If he were a bad person, he wouldn't care enough to make sure I was getting taken care of until it's born," she finished, quiet once again. "Good luck, Bryan," she stated as the man headed for his match. "Thanks, Lyra," he nodded once before he continued on his way. "How did a girl like you end up in this situation?" the father of her baby daddy questioned, gesturing for her to enter now that the room was empty.
