"Cassidy Carter, just the girl I wanted to see" the condescending voice of QT Marshall sounded making me groan quietly in annoyance as I carefully closed my book to give him my attention. "Yes QT" I sighed never really having a great relationship with the man even when he was my coach at the Nightmare Factory. "Tony is announcing a tournament to find a number one contender to Guevara and Melo's championships. He's looking for teams." He started slowly, the news not new as Tony had announced it in the pre-show meeting to all the talent. "And?" I prodded just wanting to get the entire situation over so I could get back to my book. "How would you feel about teaming with The Factory in the tournament?" he broached with a small shrug making me groan inwardly. "With whom," I asked flipping my book back open and finding where I had left off before he interrupted "Camaroto" he mentioned easily making the hair on my arms raise and a shiver go up my back "No." my answer came easily; the guy creeped me out beyond belief. "Solo?" he suggested next making me roll my eyes "No" I repeated eyes flitting across the page quickly trying to retain the information for my exam the next day "Me?" QT tried this time making me snort out a laugh "No" I felt like a broken record repeating the same answer over and over again "Cole?" he suggested stretching for some chance at this tournament "Nah uh" I sighed flipping the page and reading through the information "So Lee?" he said semi confidently "Nope" I mumbled popping the p and continuing with my reading rolling my eyes as he continued to stare the silence around us becoming incredibly awkward "Fine. If I pick one of you, will you leave me alone" I groaned looking up at the older male giving in so that he would go away. "Serious? Yeah. Yes. Of course." He nodded quickly staring at me expectantly as I thought over my options.

Comaroto was an absolute no, the thought of being anywhere near the man made me shiver in fear. I didn't know Aaron since he trained predominately with Dustin, and he was talented, but our personalities seemed like they would clash. I never got along with QT when I HAD to interact with him, and I can't imagine it's gotten any better. Lee was always sweet, but Julia got weird about him spending time with me before, I doubt she'd be impressed if we were teammates. Which left me with Cole. I knew next to nothing about him other than he's talented and cocky, fitting in perfectly with QT. Letting out a heavy sigh I shut my book and slid off the equipment crate ending up toe to toe with QT. "He better be as good as everyone says he is. If I enter this tournament, I plan to win" I stated nodding my head towards Cole who looked like he was going to say something before Aaron nudged him in the side. "Of course. He has a match against Darby Allin tonight, he'll show you how good he is." QT nodded quickly before I spun on my heel and walked away leaving the group standing alone in the hallway. I searched for a relatively quiet spot near a monitor before I sat back down and opened my book not getting a chance to start reading before The Factory theme song started dragging my attention to the monitor. Sighing quietly to myself I marked my spot and gave the TV my full attention knowing to do decent tagging together I'd have to know something about his wrestling style. Even though he lost watching him against Darby showed what he was capable of, and I could say I wasn't disappointed. He seemed to be well rounded in all aspects being able to fly and grapple which meant we'd be able to combat with anyone we would come across. Watching the man make his way up the ramp I turned my attention back to my book trying to focus on that knowing after tomorrow I'd have to focus on the upcoming tournament.

"So, what did you think?" a voice sounded scaring me out of my thoughts, nearly dropping my book as I jumped in my spot. "Jesus, you're quiet" I gasped holding a hand to my chest as I tried to control my breathing "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you" Cole offered joining me on the equipment crate "It's okay. I was just focused I guess" I shrugged closing my book and setting it to the side "You did great. Darby is always a tough competitor" I complimented honestly impressed with what I had seen from the man. "Everyone always says he's just wild and you can't wrestle him you just have to fight him. I guess I wasn't ready for how true that was" He sighed shaking out his hand stilling as I grabbed the limb and felt around near his knuckles "This is going to hurt a little" I warned before I pulled on his finger popping his middle finger back into place, a small grunt being the only noise he made. "Wow, thanks" he smirked closing and opening his fist a few times "Don't mention it." I sighed softly "What are you studying for?" He asked casually "Children's psychology" I scrunched my nose up wishing I had more time "I have an exam on it tomorrow morning" I added with a heavy sigh "I should stop bothering you then" he offered up hopping back off the crate and moving to walk away before I grabbed his arm pulling him back. "You should give me your number. I'd rather not have to seek out QT to get a hold of you" I explained passing him my phone and watching as he quickly entered his number and sent himself a text. "What's your problem with the guys?" he asked tilting his head to the side in confusion "I don't have a problem with Lee, Julia just gets weird about him being around other girls too much. I don't know Aaron but he's pretty far up QT's ass, so I don't think we'd get along. QT is too condescending and annoying. And Camarato scares the hell out of me. Which left you" I shrugged casually "No offense" I tacked on realizing after the words had left my mouth it sounded rude. "None taken, I am still the new kid" he gave me a crooked grin and a small wave before he was walking away, leaving silence behind. I had no idea what to expect in the weeks to come, but I guess it could be worse.

"Hey, you ready for our first match tonight?" Cole asked as I let him into my locker room having refused to go into the Factory locker room to get ready. "For sure, I'm not too worried about our competition these first few rounds, it's if we make it to round three that I'm worried about" I shrugged turning to face him trying not to get distracted by the tan skin of his midsection peeking out from beneath his track jacket. "Right now, we just gotta have fun and win our matches, we'll worry about the third round if we get there" he shrugged simply "How did your exam go last week?" he asked next making me smile slightly, "I think it went well, the surprise coffee helped" I smirked trying not to blush at the crooked smile I was given in return. "I'm glad, I had no idea what you'd like so I just guessed" he shrugged slightly making me smile. "You made a good guess" I shrugged slightly a silence falling over us until a stagehand knocked on the door announcing we were up. "I guess it's time" I sighed gesturing for him to walk out first before I followed after him. I watched him go out first to the Factory theme song before my theme started to play and I joined him out in front of the crowd. "This was not a team I was expecting guys," Tony announced as we made our way down to the ring where our opponents were waiting. "I'm with you there Tony, Cole Karter and Cassidy Carter are not two people I expected to team together in this tournament. That may be what gets them through this, that they are a team that no one was expecting, and they are the wild cards" Tazz agreed as I slid into the ring and got to my feet backing into the corner with Cole at my side. "You want first?" Cole asked quietly, my response being a shrug, the nerves starting to catch up with me. "Sure" I finally nodded stepping forward and making the decision for our opponents. "Give 'em hell" Cole mumbled before he stepped out of the ring and the match got underway. There were a couple of things I wish would have gone differently but in the end, Cole and I managed to pull out the win which is really what mattered.

"I'll catch you back in the locker room, I'm gonna go grab some water and change" Cole stated before we parted ways, my body moving on autopilot to change out of my gear and into something more comfortable. "Knock, knock" Cole's voice sounded before he stepped in with two plates and two glasses of water in his arms. "Thank god, I'm starving" I moaned accepting the plate of food Cole offered up before he took the spot beside me to continue watching the show. "I figured, I heard your stomach on one of those last tags" he grinned, the crooked smile making a soft blush come to my cheeks again. "How do you think we did as a team?" I asked taking a bite of the mashed potatoes he had brought me "I mean individually we're both great but" I shrugged not sure what else to say. "I'm sure QT will let me know as soon as I see him later" he mumbled making me frown "Okay well if he tells you we sucked and we should just cut our losses now you have to tell me" I sighed giving him a puppy dog look happy when the smile returned to his face. "We didn't suck. But I'd say it's noticeable we don't normally work together" he sighed, my nose scrunching up hating that he was right. "Hey, stop it." he grumbled pulling me closer and poking at my nose "We'll do great. We just need to practice a bit more." He sighed looking down at me with a serious look. "You know, you're pretty cute Carter" he smirked making the blush on my cheeks brighten "You're not so bad yourself" I sighed back looking at him from under my lashes "I think we'll be just fine toots, now finish eating" he grinned throwing his arm around my shoulder as I returned to my food, the man having nearly inhaled his own. My thoughts swirled around the man to my side, not sure what was going to happen in the future but knowing that he was going to be with me the entire time made it a little easier to handle.
