Chapter 4: The Rise of Shadow Claw

Adrien POV

After school, I was about to head home until I saw Lila slipping away into the alleyway. As I followed her, I saw her talking to a flying scorpion like creature.

"Hawkmoth is planning an akuma attack and is setting his sights onto a certain Dupain-Cheng to be used as bait for Spider-X. As soon as he arrives, his powers will be stripped away from him. Soon, nothing will stop us." She said.

"Mistress, this is too far. Even for you." The creature pleaded.

"Silence! You will speak unless I tell you too!" Lila ordered, causing the creature's mouth to be sealed shut.

A wave of pain rushed into my head as I saw images of myself dressed in a black leather cat suit fighting monsters and a boy in a spider suit. Then, I saw a girl dressed in a skin tight ladybug suit and mask. Suddenly, I realised that the person in the cat suit was me.

I ran from the alleyway and made my way home, trying to find my father, only to over hear him talking to Nathalie.  

""Lila managed to get into the school without any hassle. Faking that therapy session was easier than I expected. Including getting Venom and The Sinister 7 to join our cause." Nathalie said.

Lila's therapy was fake? I thought.

"I just hope that my son doesn't find out I'm Hawkmoth. I doubt he would help me." My father replied in dismay.

My head stun as I heard the name Hawkmoth. I've heard the name on the news, but it never rang any bells until I put two and two together. 

My father is Hawkmoth. Then, the person in the  red and black suit is Ladybug. And behind the mask is Marinette Dupain-Cheng, my former love interest who was taken away by Spider-X, the webslinger.

 Suddenly, Nathalie saw me eavesdropping and looked down at me.

"I-. Umm?" I stammered.

"What did you hear?" She asked.

"It's alright, son. Come in, I believe it's high time I come clean." My father said.

As I entered, I saw a large picture of my mother. He pushed the three buttons and activated an elevator. As we descended, I saw a coffin. We walked towards it.

"A coffin? That's what you wanted to show me?" I asked.

"No." He simply replied. He pushed a button and showed my mother's body.

"M-Mother? But you said she disappeared." I gasped.

"That's partially true. The thing is that I have preserved your mother for years. And because of the peacock miraculous, she is like this. That's why I needed the ladybug and cat miraculous. To bring her back." My father said.  

"All this time, she was underneath our house the whole time?" I asked. 

My father nodded.

"But, why keep this a secret?" I asked.

"Because I doubt you would help us if you knew I lied to you, my son. I know what I've been doing all this time was wrong. But it was for the right cause. I know you may never forgive me for all the things I've done to you and your friends, but please. You must understand." My father said as he placed his hand on my shoulder.

If only I knew why my father acted so cold to me. If only I knew why Hawkmoth was doing this.

I nodded and met his gaze.

"There is something I need to tell you." I said.

"Yes?" My father asked.

"I am Chat Noir. Well, not anymore." I said.

My father's eyes widened with shock before he regained his composure.

"I see. I had a feeling, but I assumed I was wrong." He replied.

"Marinette is also Ladybug. She means nothing to me anymore and I will gladly help you to get mother back." I said.

"Thank you, son." My father replied.

And I will take up my new alter ego. Shadow Claw. I thought with a smirk.
