The next morning saw Red and Culter sleeping while the humans prepared themselves for the coming fight. Isaiah found himself shaking at times knowing he'd be in direct sight of a werewolf. He walked up to Red and examined her sleeping, the pale skin and no breathing motion at all made him shudder a bit, he noticed Red's fangs were slightly hanging too.
"Be mindful of those." Stan whispered from the kitchen table, he looked up from his silver stake and rifle.
"If you get too close and one of those fangs accidentally hits you, you will turn."Isaiah looked around the room and then back at Stan.
"Why are her fangs hanging out? I thought vampires could retract them on command?" He kept glimpsing back at the perfect white, shiny teeth protruding from Red's mouth. She truly was a predator.
Stan chuckled "eh she's very young, probably can't control it when she's sleeping." He glanced at his rifle and checked his ammunition, occasionally looking up at the boy to be sure he wasn't misbehaving.
"So...how long have you been a hunter for?" Isaiah asked Stan while looking around for anything to keep him busy.
"I've been working in the field for twenty two years now, starting being trained when I was 7. I come from a family of hunters which most of us do. It's hard work." He stated as he finished tweaking his rifle, checking outside to see the sun shining much brighter than before.
Isaiah took an immediate interest in this information, he hadn't really thought about the fact that there must be other hunters out there, which led his mind to many questions."How many hunters are there? And what exactly makes it so difficult, it's not like you're trying to kill these people?" Isaiah shrank as he saw Stan's eyes meet his in an annoyance. Stan sighed and put his things down and decided to take a seat at the table. "I'll give you a pass since this is very new to you, there are well over a million supernaturals just in the USA, in terms of hunters, I'd estimate about two hundred to three hundred thousand? I don't exactly keep track." Isaiah nodded and went to open Red's refrigerator to see just water and a few sandwiches and a surprising amount of raw meat.
Stan rolled his eyes and coughed to regain the boy's attention, Isaiah turned immediately and gave a nervous smile. "If you'll let me continue, I don't entirely know why you'd be surprised about the profession being dangerous. Just because most supernaturals aren't bloodthirsty killing machines doesn't mean there's none. See Vortex for example, or a siren that decides to start eating sailors or a vampire that enjoys killing to feed. These..." Stan paused to make sure Red and Culter were still sleeping, sure enough they were.
"Um...beings, are all way stronger and faster than humans and nearly all of them can only be killed by very specific methods, do you understand how difficult it is to kill a witch? Or a vampire or a werewolf?"
Isaiah shook his head and contemplated for a moment. "Well silver kills vampires and werewolves, garlic hurts vampires, crosses? Maybe? I thought sunlight killed vampires too? What about fire? And maybe....." Stan cut off Isaiah laughing hysterically."Holy crap, you have no idea, first off no religious symbols do not harm any supernatural that isn't demonic.." Stan again glanced at Red and thought back to the holy water.
"Silver is useless against vampires, I don't know why that's becoming such a misconception even amongst young hunters I've seen some surprised by the fact that silver doesn't hurt vampires. Garlic itself isn't harmful to vampires either but hunters did find a way to make it quite lethal, it's called garlic poison, and it's more or less altered garlic powder. As for sunlight and fire, fire unless from a magical source isn't harmful either. Think witches basically with that, and although sunlight does give vampires migraines and slightly weakens them, it's not dangerous."Isaiah stood at the door of the refrigerator just soaking up all this information and the more Stan had gone on, the more interesting it became.
"What actually kills a vampire is of course the tried and true wooden stake, unfortunately they are only actually weak to one type of wood only found in South America. Decapitation does in theory work, but you'd have to separate the head from the body and usually you still have to burn the body parts. It's extremely time consuming and older vampires simply regenerate too fast for you to have Time for it."

FantasíaThe tale is as old as time, the little girl who was tricked by a wolf and saved by a timely woodsman. This is a far different take on the story where Red herself is a predator. Not as a wolf either, arguably something more dangerous. She tries to su...
