And there it is....
The beginning of every scary, overthinking and mind blowing question.
"Would you maybe like to meet my parents?" Jay asks and Rose's heartbeat increases.
"What?" She asks softly, trying to fully process his question. She knew exactly what he had asked her, but she couldn't process it completely.
"I asked if you would like to meet my parents?" He asks again.
"I know what you asked, but what?" Rose states.
"I asked-"
"Shhh! I get it!" Rose says quickly and Jay chuckles.
"Okay, but I'm serious... Do you?" He asks.
"Well yes I do want to, but why are you suddenly asking this?" She asks completely confused.
"Well, it's my sisters birthday next weekend and my mom wanted me to go visit them. You know, stay there for the weekend and spend some time with my family." He says and Rose nods.
"Okay, I get that, but where do I fit into all this?" Rose asks, slightly blushing.
"So, I told my mom that I'll confirm with her tomorrow, because I am currently sick, and that I had to discuss it with my roommate. So she said that I can bring my roommate with." He says and Rose laughs lightly.
"Roommate? So your mom probably assumes I'm one of the bro's?" She asks still laughing.
"Most likely, but what I'm trying to say is, my mom literally said she don't mind if you go with, and I really want you to meet my family."
"Jay... I don't know. I want to meet your family, but what about college?" She asks with a million things running through her mind now.
What about Mia and Liam? What about College? What about Cheerleading? What about his apartment? What about...
"It's only going to be for the weekend, come on. It's going to be fun." He says matter of factly and she just nods giving in.
"Fine, but only if you let your mom know im not one of the bro's, I'm a girl." She says flashing her hundred dollar smile at him.
"Aw man, I liked the 'bro and homie' vibe" he says and Rose playfully squint her eyes at him.
"Fine bro." She says and Jay protests.
"Nevermind, I hate it." Jay says and Rose just giggles.
Rose went to her room not shortly after and decided that she's going to go for a walk. She didn't go out at all, she was too busy studying and taking care of Jay.
She put on a black pair of tights and a baby blue crop top with her white Nike Air forces, her earphones plugged into her phone, and her hair up into a messy bun.
She went to Jay's room to tell him she's going for a walk.
"Hey, Jay?" She calls for him outside of his room.
"Yeah?" He asks moving around in his room.
"I'm going to go for a walk." She says just as Jay opens his door.
"How long you going to be gone?" He asks her and she shrugs her shoulders.
"I'm not sure, probably like half an hour?" She tells, more like asks him.
"Okay. just be safe for me."
With that Rose went on her walk.
Feeling the coolness of the air brushing over her shoulders, she can't help but let out a sigh of relaxation.
Rose loves going for walks. It helps her escape from reality.
She passes a park where there are little kids running around, and spending time with their parents.
Rose smiled at the sight and couldn't help but feel left out at the same time.
She so badly wanted her childhood to be as perfect as these little kids. A normal childhood where she didn't need to hide from her father, or lie to her mother about why she was crying at night.
Rose went on with her walk and discovered an Ice cream shop. She didn't know there was an Ice cream shop there, but she went in and got herself a cone of chocolate Ice cream.
Luckily she had $7 on her. If she didn't she would probably have been mad at herself for a very long time.
Eating her Ice cream and walking back home, her mind drifted back to Jay.
He wants her to meet his family. She felt nervous but excited. Hurt but happy.
Nervous, because she didn't know what type of people they are, and whether they're going to like her. Excited because she is longing to meet a family that she could maybe call her own. She felt hurt knowing that it wouldn't be her family that she could go visit, but happy that Jay actually wants her there.
After a few minutes of walking Rose got back home. Ice cream finished long time already. She unlocked the door and locked it again as soon as she got in.
"Honey, I'm home." Rose sings to Jay that sticks his head around the wall from the kitchen.
" Hey." He says walking towards her.
"Sorry 'bro' but you just missed out." Rose says pushing him a bit.
"Bro? We still doing that?" Jay asks and Rose smiles.
"Yeah, I love how you're worried about that and not the fact that you missed out." She says and tilts her head thinking a bit.
"Nah, being called 'bro' when your girl finally comes back home is very more concerning." He says. "But please, enlighten me on how exactly I missed out on something." He continues and Rose looks at him shock.
"Firstly, what's with the attitude? And secondly, Ice cream." She says smiling up at him.
Jay pulls her in and holds his arms draped around her waist.
"There is no attitude, but where did you get Ice cream?" He asks confused.
"There was this old guy, about 40 years old, driving a white van. He stopped and offered me Ice cream if I kissed him. That Ice cream was fantastic!" She exclaims and Jay's blood starts to boil.
"What? Oh I'm going to kill him." Jay says letting go of Rose.
Rose pulls him back by his hand and laughs lightly.
"I was just joking! I was walking and saw an Ice cream shop. I had $7 on me so I bought me one." Rose says and Jay shoots her a warning look.
"So you are telling me, I almost killed a man for absolutely no reason?" Jay says and Rose nods her head laughing.
"Yeah, you should have seen your face. Also why would I kiss a random 40 year old?" Jay lifts his one brow with her question.
"It's Ice cream. I would have done it." Jay says and covers his mouth with his hand as if he didn't mean to say that.
"Gay much!" Rose busts out laughing.
"As if, but if you were a guy, you could classify me as Gay. Only! If you were a guy. No one else." Jay says and Rose laughs even louder.
"You are just something else."
"Yeah? Now get over it, I made us something to eat." Jay states and they both go sit down at the dining table.
"Husband material!" Rose says and Jay smiles at her.
"I like the sound of that." Jay states and Rose burst out laughing.
They eat in comfortable silence and after they are done, Jay gets up and does the dishes.
Rose went to go shower while Jay was cleaning up further and went to go shower as soon as Rose was done.
