Suck it up

A group of ghouls sat in the common room where they would await word from Papa. currently, Aether and Sodo sat on the edge of the couch with their guitars cords running to nearby amps, Rain sat on a stool with his bass comfortable in his lap. Swiss leaned against a wall happily singing Papas lyrics, Cirrus sat on a stool next to rain keeping beat by patting on her thigh, her head happily swaying with the groups sound.

It wasnt practice- or even "lets run through..."- no it was fucking around just to pass time. It was each of them feeling their sound, listening to the others as it came together with unfakeable eased comfort. The music breathed through them relaxed, natural, like a river flowed through the room. The bliss they all felt of simply just being in that moment- the feeling so connected without having to do or say one thing- that was why the ghouls tolerate each other. To them, they were all worth it in the end.

Cirrus had just begun to harmonize with Swiss, the sound filling out with the addition of her power cords which Swiss welcomed with a smile. While not watching his strings Sodo felt a quick sharp pain, but a glance told him his string had'nt broken, so Sodo shook his head confused. Sodo looked to the singing pair, glanced at Aethers guitar and quickly returned his gaze to his own fretboard. That's when he saw it, a clear crimson smear against the white of his favored guitar. Still playing the fire ghoul looked down, his little finger cold and covered in blood from the cut along the inside. It may sound worse than it felt, to the fire ghoul it felt of nothing, comparable to a papercut.

This may come as a surprise to none, but pain had an altered affect on fire ghouls; while they could injure like any ghoul, it took an immense amount of damage to reach the pain threshold. That being said, this slice meant as little as a prick to Sodo, he simply wiped most of the blood off on his scratch guard before anyone had time to notice he may have missed a note or two, then jumped right in again. It wasn't until way into their next decided song before someone looked over to Sodo's small frame tucked behind Aether. And it had to be Cirrus, the lyrics stumbling to a halt as she traded them for real words.

"Oh my Cirice! Sodo, your finger." she pointed out her expansive carrying in the common room.

"I know-" Sodo was cut off.

"Are you okay? Should i call for a sister?" Aether asked at his side.

And just like that everything was gone, the sound they were making and they peace in the atmosphere; Sodo felt more ticked off than he felt pain.

"Im fine." the fire ghouls grumbled as he rose from the couch, guitar still firmly in his injured hand.

"Do you want me to come with you?" Rain asked.

"Why? Its not like you could do anything, it doesn't hurt."

"-Doesnt hurt." Cirrus mocked him, "Go get cleaned up, it reeks."

Sodo flicked his white pic at the fem ghouls lap on his way from the room, the halls dark and cold as they echoed his steps back to him. A short hall led to a crossroads in the building, Sodo turned up an unmarked hall before taking a staircase up. Around a corner was a hall that housed four rooms, up another flight of stairs and of course one more corner was a second hall with the remaining four rooms, Sodo's being the first door on the right.

Sodo produced a small key from his pocket, unlocked the door and stepped inside, dropping his key into a bowl on a shelf. In the comfort of his room and behind a locked door Sodo reached up to unclasp his mask, gently removing it and setting it on the bed as he made his way to the ensuite bathroom. Under the sink cabinet was a first aid kit and a bottle of rubbing alcohol, Sodo proclaimed both and held out his pinky shaking a little. It wasn't pain, maybe adrenaline then. The fire ghouls poured the liquid over his finger, watching how the liquid bubbled and feel off his skin leaving little half bloody droplets in the sink.
