TW: mentions of pretty graphic deaths. This is not at all glorifying death in any way, just trying to add history to their individual storyline in this hc. It's ok to not feel ok, it's okay to feel your struggling, but if anyone to read this needs the help: dial or text 988

THat being said, i don't want to overload on negative all in one go, so im gonna break this up a bit. NOTE This is not in order of which ghoul came when, this is in order of the general season when they were summoned.

As mentioned previously, the process of being summoned back as a ghoul is not an easy task for any of the parties involved. First of all, it was always risky for the Papas who performed the ceremonies; and secondly because the ghouls had to be 'brought back', they had to experience death first. Because of how already risky this was no ghouls were brought back in the winter seasons as it would be far too cold for them in their fragile acclimating states, it could be one thing to have a cold ghoul with a space heater and blanket, but it's another to have a ghoul freezing going through withdrawal or psychosis. If the ghouls were lucky they wouldn't remember their death, only the pain of the summoning, but there were a few ghouls who remembered their suffering even before death.

Without winter resurrections, let's start with fall resurrections.

The first ghoul to be summoned in the fall season was a quintessence, strong and stocky, bold and confident. However, Aether was never like that as a human; the man struggled with insecurity and impulses- sometimes getting the big man into troubling situations. His death wasn't one of those situations, Aether was wrongly accused.

Late in the night, Aether had been home alone drinking comfortably when everything was going wrong in a bar across town. An older man- 30s or 40s- sat in a booth accusing the timidly large human of coming onto one of the casual patrons girlfriend- and though the girl disputed this saying she hadn't even seen the man before- the drunken overprotective men around her had already made up their minds. The drunk fools made a plan in the bar, found their way to Aether's home in the dead of night and broke in. The drunkard's tied rope to the poor souls' ankles, dragging him behind their truck, then tied him upside down to a tree in the woods and abandoned him. Aether's death wasn't the most painful of the ghouls, but it was bad enough Secondo insisted on helping the ghoul to full health himself as opposed to giving the ghoul to the Sister of Sin to nurse him through the transitional period.

The next fall ghoul that was summoned by Secondo was much smaller, more quiet and tame as a water ghoul; even as a man Rain had been quite frail. As a small human child Rain was prone to illness, especially when the seasons changed and temperatures dropped, this was something he struggled with and defied the odds even making it to his teen ages, though his doctors told him then he wouldn't have too much longer. They were more right than they wanted to be.

Rain's sorry human state was brought to the hospital only 14 days after his 23rd birthday, practically on the brink of death and wishing he was dead. The man could only manage a groan through the pain as he was transferred to another bed, he was coughing and writhing too much to get an x-ray; and he was unresponsive, just the sound of screamed sobs. In the end staff had to sedate him, with him finally still they were able to diagnose him with pneumonia- and while the drugs were still working- they wanted to try and drain some of the fluid gathering in his lungs.

To no avail, when the drugs wore off he was left in agony as he essentially drowned where he lay. And when Secondo called on Rain to be summoned back it felt like Rain was dying all over again. The cold and coughing, the wetness like thich black ink that seemed to seep out of him. After Rain had risen the Sisters of Sin helped him in the infirmary, and evidently that's where the ghoul found the most comfort in his early ghoul days.

Of the eight ghouls, one more of them was summoned in fall, but not by Secondo- this ghoul had been summoned later by Terzo. A ghoul of strength and independence, a voice that never falters, and a heart of pure gold. Cirrus was the second ghoul to be summoned by Terzo, which only happened by chance while Terzo was out late one night on a tour in a Euro country.

Not much could be said about Cirrus' human life, it wasn't like the ministry took watch over the ghouls before they were summoned- and Cirrus was one of the ghouls who practically remembered nothing from her previous life; but Terzo well remembered what he witnessed.

Cirrus was a beautiful human, and so full of life, it attracted the at-the-time Papa along with others of ill intent. And with Terzo on his own, and very outnumbered, all he could do is wait and watch. They weren't violent or crude with the beauty, it ended rather quickly. They chased her down and jumped her, held her down, and filled her with chemicals and poisons.

All that said, with Terzo waiting nearby, Cirrus' summoning was the quickest by far- maybe that was why she couldn't recall her prior life, it was too soon to burn in the memories of that life lived. Terzo made a quick pentagram on the floor with some found charcoal, moved the girl's body to the center, and knelt at her side. As Terzo began the ancient Latin ritual he carefully split his palm. Without breaking pace in the latin, he used a hand to hold her head on his knee, letting the blood spill from his cut palm to her parted blue lips. Terzo felt the energy like electricity around them, once he finished he held his hand to his chest and stepped out the pentagram to wait.

When Cirrus woke she had already been moved to the infirmary at the ministry, the Sisters of Sin taking a liking to her and finding comfort with the new easy ghoul while everyone else was still away on tour. Then Cirrus was acclimated to the other ghouls, and tested by Terzo on how much- if any- she could recall before her wake. From there it was up to the other ghouls to teach her responsibility, to break her to the already existing system the ghouls before them broke them to.
