Cumulus poured two mugs of coffee, added an adequate amount of creamer to her own mug, then took both and left the kitchenette. She made her way over to the living room, silently offering Swiss the mug of black coffee. The ghoul accepted the mug with heavy limbs, wrapping both hands around the mug to leech off its warmth. Cumulus gently sat on the couch next to him, Sodo stood with a grunt to go fetch his own cup.
"You sleep any?" Cumulus asked, knowing the response she'd get.
Swiss shook his head, the energy to form words drained from him. Swiss held his mug in numb fingers, watching the ghoul in the kitchenette move from afar. Soon enough the short fire ghoul returned, sitting on Swiss' other side, tossing his legs up over Swiss' knees. Swiss in return leaned his masked head comfortably against the fire ghouls with exhausted lazy effort.
Mountain was the next ghoul up, choosing the peace of the kitchenette to drink his morning cup before preparing breakfast. It wasn't long before cumulus joined the tallest ghoul leaving Sodo and Swiss on the couch. The pair on the couch nursing their coffees with no words to exchange, Swiss too tired and Sodo too emotionally locked still.
The sounds of crashing about the kitchen eventually awoke Rain, the water ghoul slinking out of Mountain's room in a different stolen hoody. He yawned as he sat back in Cumulus' forget spot on the couch, the ghoul content in the silence. Occasionally he stole a sip or two from Sodo's lightly sweetened coffee, the three just watching the pair move in the kitchen, it wasn't long before there was the familiar sound of bacon sizzling as it hit the pan. Cirrus came out of her room, tried and failed to talk to the sad group sat on the couch, then dipped away into the kitchen instead. A moment later Cirrus emerged again to set the table, Rain took one more drink of Sodo's coffee, then stood and went to help set the table.
"Bitch!" they heard muffled before Aurora opened her door, "Is that bacon?!"
Cumulus smiled from the kitchen, "Go put your mask on, it'll be done soon."
The tiny ghoulette smiled, dipping into her room briefly before returning while tightening the strap. She was practically buzzing, skipping around the space in fast flashes; Cirrus caught Aurora by the shoulder to stop her. Usually ghouls felt more pain after being awake, or were at the very least disoriented; but this new ghoulette seemed to feel right on her feet like nothing transpired.
"Slow down. You haven't been on the surface for even 16 hours." Cirrus says.
"Oh, this is nothing compared to being railed by a train. I feel very well rested."
Swiss couldn't stop all of a chuckle, the new ghoulette gaining his attention with amusement. The ghouls fell silent by Aurora's tactlessness and boldness, unsure of how they were supposed to respond; so everyone looked between each other with looks unreadable past the masks.
"I'm sorry," Aurora said, "Did i say something wrong?"
"No." Cirrus said, "Not at all."
"I like this one." Swiss laughed.
It was probably the first thing Swiss had to say in nearly a week; every ghoul felt the mood lift, Sodo even sent a small smile to the ghoul behind him. The air seemed lighter, more breathable as the ice began to thaw with the ghouls. The comfortability continued even when the seven of them sat down for breakfast, only one ghoul still amiss.
The ghouls spent the morning with Aurora, her bright personality leaking into every ghoul in the room. By noon, Swiss and Aurora were the loudest two; all the other ghouls were revived by Swiss slowly returning to himself. The multi ghoul was still withdrawn, but he seemed comfortable joking around now, even smiling and teasing at the fire ghoul once in a while. Aurora shared about her life, went into little detail on her death after the reaction she got this morning, and she shrugged off her time in the pit under the surface.
