Cloves pov
It's now Friday which means it's our first hunting day! Oh I can't wait..at me and Cato meet favian at the training center after curfew
"Ok you will both be able to pick your weapons before hunting we will move around the district looking for anyone who is out passed curfew. The peacekeepers know you'll be hunting so they won't bother you, you can't have mercy on anyone. When you see someone look at me for approval if I nod yess kill them if I nod no hold back and let peacekeepers handle it."
We then set out me and Cato are very excited he grabbed a sword and I grabbed my favorite throwing knives.
After 10 minutes of searching the woods we found two people and man and a woman. I look at favian and he gives us the nod of approval. I smirk and so does Cato as we come up behind them
"I want the girl" I say
"I'll take the guy clover" cato replied
I throw a knife at the girls back as she screams in pain and Cato stabs the man in the leg
Both of them on the ground we switch and I finish off the guy by putting a knife in his skull
Cato stabs the girl in the chest quickly
"Easy kills" I say
"They didn't even try to fight back" he replied
Favian says "sorry but we have to go home now good job for your first time hunting"
As we go to bed Cato calls me into his room
Favian went out tonight
"Clover!" Cato shouts
"Yea? Is everything alright"
"Mhm I just wanted to see if you wanted to sleep in my bed tonight since favian will be gone for a while"
"Sure!!" I reply before jumping into his bed
The reaping will be in a couple of months they say that's when the nightmares start happening I should've believed them
As I ran through the forest I see Cato get slower
"Cato please please we have to keep going" I yell with tears in my eyes as mutts chase us one of them claw him in the back and leave
He falls to the ground losing tons of blood
"Clover" he says in a strained voice
"Your gonna be okay alright we'll find something to patch you up alright" I say as I hold him in my arms sitting in a puddle of blood
"Clove I love you" he says taking his last breath
"Cato...Cato! Wait don't leave me please! Cato don't do this I love you" I say hugging his body crying so hard
I hear the canon go off
I wake up and yell "Cato!!"
Catos pov
A few minutes ago I woke up to cloves whimpering and saying things like please don't leave me.
Then once I fully wake up she wakes up and yells my name
"Woah woah clover" i say trying to calm her down
She was crying and hyperventilating
"Cato! Your alive I'm so so glad your alive" she says as she hugs me and cries into my shoulder
"Hey it's ok I'm right here I'm alright your alright" I say in a calming voice while rubbing her back
"Is it ok if we stay up for a bit" she asks terrified
"Sure as long as you want it's Saturday tomorrow so we can sleep or do whatever we want ok"
For the next 30 minutes we cuddled til we both fell asleep
It was then that I knew she has to come out of that arena...or I find a way to get us both out but that would almost be impossible in the end I would never kill clove my sweet sweet clove...
