Mahika hated Darshan when he abandoned her fifteen years ago. She was clueless, desperate, when she knew he rejected her calls and personally asked his assistant to put her number in the blacklist. He left before she could tell him the secret she kept for years. If only she had a bit more courage to tell him, maybe he would change his decision. But she did not have it. She was late.
The thing with Piyush happened later. He fell for her when they met on the set of her blockbuster movie, Bekaraar. He was the producer. Their fathers were old colleagues and they met again at Piyush's father's last movie premiere. He expressed his feelings for her and they started dating. With Darshan, things have been so difficult. He started avoiding her. She saw an opportunity to keep her secret in Piyush, so she accepted him and got married one month later. Yes, you read that right. She refused to have children again after giving birth to Birju.
“Mahi,” Darshan took a seat beside her. “Here, eat. Looks terrible but it tastes good.”
Mahika stared at a biscuit pack in Darshan's hand. “Where did you find that?”
“Kitchen, first shelf right beside the pickle jar.” Said Darshan with a big smile on his face. Mahika did not play along. She just shook her head and directed her gaze back at the sea.
Noticing the change in Mahika, Darshan stared at her suspiciously. “What's wrong with you? Here, eat. You have not eaten anything since yesterday. Or, are you cold? You want more blanket?”
“No, thanks. I am not cold and I am not that hungry.” Mahika smiled at him. But he knew he saw something different from that smile.
Darshan sighed and turned to look at Samar. “Sammy, look at this. Your stubborn bhabhi does not want to eat.”
“Please eat, bhabhi. This is how we will survive.” Samar finished his meal and took two pills from the aid kit box to them. He gave Darshan and Mahika one each.
“Seasickness pill. Ruhani took one and see where she is now.”
They looked at Ruhani who was already sleeping on the bench. She slept like a baby with a blanket wrapped around her. But it did not attract Mahika. She still refused to eat.
“Alright. I will not eat either. Let's just sit here and die of starvation, shall we?” Darshan dropped the food pack and left. Samar took his place and tried again.
“If you are thinking about your family, then you are just the same as us. Darshan, Ruhani and I want to go home too. But for now, this is all we can do. And this,” He extended his hand holding the pack to Mahika. “This will help to bring us to them. Our families. Believe me.”
Mahika stared at Samar then smiled. She really did not feel like eating. But since it was Samar, she became reluctant. Besides, everything he said was true.
“I am sorry, I am too childish. I just can't believe what have been happening to me. I got distracted when thinking about it.” Said Mahika while trying to enjoy the food.
A thin smile appeared on Samar's face. “You and Darshan are exactly the same. Sometimes I wonder how you could both make a good pairing and fool an entire generation.”
“Hello, I can hear you.” Darshan squinted his eyes as he tried to unwrap his food. Samar only put his finger on his lips and waved his hand, telling him to just eat the food calmly.
Mahika smiled at that. “Every pairing can make good pairing as long as there is immense love and a bit of playfulness between them.”
“But that is an on-screen matter. I always wonder how you met for the first time and how you bond with each other. Because he is a player but never stuck on one like he did to you.”
