“Well, if you expect us to provide security for you, you should be a part of us.”
The last few seconds in the Quartet's house were filled with awkward conversations between the gang, Vikramaditya, Yudhisthira, and the ILF officer. The group agreed to give shelter and guaranteed safety for them. In return, the men have to serve them. Yodha and Kiaan were prepared to do anything to save themselves and the girls. But they can only join them on one condition. They were not ready for that.
“But we don't accept the condition,” Yodha said, still insisting on the decision. He had been taking charge of the whole conversation since Kiaan refused to open his mouth. He knew Kiaan would not accept that either.
“Your choice, Sir,” The officer smiled. “We have rules and law. If you want to be part of us, you must abide by it.”
The officer gave a final salute to Vikramaditya before he left the house. Vikramaditya only sighed then rose from his seat with the help of Yudhisthira. He looked so disappointed.
“I will put in some good words for you all. If you change your mind, leave a word to the guards. They will find me,” The old man said.
They left not long after the officer. Now there were only the four of them in the house. Yodha stood up and walked to the window to see the situation.
“They left two guards at the door,” He said.
“Well, that means we don't have to accept the condition, right? They still give us protection even when we give no sign to cooperate with them,” Ishani gave her analysis.
“But for how long? There is no guarantee they will protect us forever. Who knows someday they will backfire us and ...” Yodha made a gun sign with his fingers and directed it to his head.
He turned to another direction, facing Kiaan. “Hey, wake up, soldier! Say something,”
Kiaan took a deep breath. He did not have any view on it except for one. “The old man helped us. No way we can repay him unless we accept the condition.”
“What?” Kavya exclaimed. “So, you want one of us to die just to have a place between them?”
Kiaan shook his head. “It's more than that, Mahika. He saved our lives. He is the reason why we are here and still breathing. We should count our blessings.”
“Do you even understand the condition they give?” Ishani moved to Kiaan's side. Her shaking hands gripped his arm.
“They want us to prove. They want one of us to do a Kukri battle with their members. The living win and get their places, in place of the dead,” She paused in the middle to take in much more air. “Kukri battle. You know how dangerous that is.”
Kiaan turned his head, looked Ishani right in the eyes. Fierceness was clearly written in his eyes.
“Maybe it is our chance. I will be the fighter,” He said.
Ishani shook her head in disbelief. “You have no idea what you are talking about.”
“Hold on,” Yodha interrupted. “Samar, this is not a decision that is taken only by you. It is about all of us. If you die, then what will happen to us?”
“And the chance to win can easily slip away. They want one from our side and that person should fight four members from their side. It looks like a suicide mission to me,” Kavya added her perspective.
“Okay,” Kiaan looked at his friends one by one. He was sure about his decision. He felt they owed the old man. He needed an explanation about all that happened. He would ask him about that. He was sure Vikramaditya knew more than it looked like. But first, they needed to accept the condition.
