My First Caper (pt. 1)

Author's Note: So as much as I love the scenario of player x reader as online friends, yes this is completely destroying the purpose of the name of this wattpad book but, I really wanted to include team red more into these oneshots so I've come up with a plan! I'll make multiple oneshots in different scenarios with Y/N! I'll usually put a warning at the beginning of each chapter of which scenario it is, for this oneshot, the scenario is that Y/N is working with team red to stop VILE and she knows the crew irl and has fought against VILE and you get the point, similarly to the first chapter of this oneshot, this is a first meeting, so before Y/N meets player, carmen, and the others. Instead of me rambling on and on, just read it already! and last thing, this COMPLETELY does not relate to the first chapter of the book, that will be getting a pt 2.. eventually, think of this as a whole new story

Your POV

"Player, we're in front of the Eiffel Tower." Carmen said as she stood next to me.

VILE was targeting to steal a key hidden away in the tower that was said to open a door leading to vast riches. I was on a caper with team red to stop them. But before I get more into the caper let me give you a little introduction of who I am.

I'm C/N! (c/n stands for code name btw) and I was just a normal girl living a normal life when one day while I was visiting a museum, Carmen and her crew were putting on a caper to stop some thieves from stealing the artifacts, have you guessed who the thieves were yet? Yep! It was VILE. I had no knowledge of VILE just being the normal girl I was but as I hid away in the back of the museum  during the caper I watched in awe at Carmen as she sneakily retrieved the artifacts and fought off the enemies. During the fight, one of the enemies, Paper Star I think, was her name? Stole the artifact from Carmen's hand and was getting away. I don't know why I did, or how I did it, but something inside me decided to throw my shoes at her, hitting in the perfect angle for her to fall down and the artifact went flying through the air and I perfectly caught it. All eyes were on me at the moment, and I would say that I'm a pretty shy person so I stuttered and just tossed the artifact to Carmen while saying "h-here's the artifact.." and I quickly ran away to find a new hiding place. Thankfully, before the VILE members could catch up with me Carmen had fought them off and was able to save the artifact. I thought it would have been the perfect time to leave, but somehow the one and only Carmen Sandiego had appeared next to me. How did she find my hiding place!?! I wondered.

"I-I-If this is about the artifact, I'm sorry for jumping in! I should have let you dealt with it!" I said while looking down to not make eye contact with her.

"Huh? No it's not about that, I just wanted to thank you, your reflexes are really good and you move fast!" Carmen said while smiling at me.

"W-what are you going to do with the artifact?" I asked her.

"Remember those guys from earlier? They were trying to steal it, I just needed to steal it before them so they could retreat and I can return it peacefully" she said.

I looked at her in awe, how cool was it to be a hero who stopped thieves!?!?

"You know.. If you're interested, you could always join my crew, your skills are really good and we would love to have you helping us!" Carmen said, offering her hand to me.

"Who's "we"?" I asked, confused.

Suddenly I heard a noise coming out from her speaker,

"I guess I'd be included in"we!" said the voice of a boy who sounded around my age.

"Oh, this is Player, he's part of my crew, he works on hacking and infiltrating the systems so we can retrieve these goods safely without alerting security and researches on new capers" Carmen said while showing her phone to me with "Player" on the other side of the screen.

"Nice to meetcha!" He said while smiling at me.

I waved back and then turned to face Carmen again and said, "Thanks for your offer but I'm not nearly as skilled as you nor as brave..but it would be nice to be able to stop thieves and crime.."

"If you ever change your mind, feel free to let me know!" Carmen said as she handed a slip of paper in my hands.

"O-okay" I said as I turned back to where she was formerly sitting, now gone, as if she had disappeared.

I looked at the paper she gave me and it had a phone number written on it.

Did I regret my decision? Should I have taken up the once in a lifetime offer Carmen had given me? Maybe, but right now I had to focus on getting home.

Third Person POV

"Who was that Red?" Player asked as Red hopped into the getaway car with Zack & Ivy.

"Just someone who might possibly be joining our crew one day.." Carmen said with a knowing smile on her face.

"Ooh! A new member!" Ivy squealed while sitting in the back of the car.

"Anyways good job on securing the artifacts today Red! But your work isn't done yet, word is that VILE is attempting to break into a nearby museum  tomorrow!" said Player.

"Ah, book hotel accommodations then Player, we'll be staying here for the night" Carmen said and faint noises of *click!click!* could be heard from his side of the screen.

"Alright, you'll be staying at [insert hotel name] for tonight, it shouldn't be that far from you!"

"Oh one last thing Player, find out what you can about Y/N L/N on the internet" Carmen said as she looked at the picture on her phone that she snapped of Y/N's ID card earlier.

"Y/N L/N... oh! I've found something about her!"

"Hm, what is it Player?"
"Apparently, Y/N is 16 years old and she lives in the place you guys currently are in  (pretend wherever you live is the place where Carmen is going on capers), and she has private paid online tuition lessons since her father's often away at work so physical schooling isn't possible for her."

"Hey! That's kinda like you Player! Same age and same school!" Zack said joining the conversation.

"Zack, homeschooling is a completely different thing than private paid online schooling!" Ivy shouted to the confused redhead driving the vehicle.

"..Huh, so the perfect candidate.." Carmen said while in deep thought with her chin resting on her hand ignoring what the two were bickering about.

On Player's side of the screen, he was still doing some research and happened to come across a few photos.

"Isn't this the same girl from earlier Red?" Player asked, squinting at the photos.

Carmen simply nodded her head and the redheads turned their attention to Carmen and Player again.

"Can't wait to meet Y/N then!" Zack said.

If only Y/N knew that the museum she would be visiting the next day was where VILE would strike again, along with Team Red. Maybe Y/N will join Carmen's crew? Maybe she won't? Maybe she'll even join VILE?! Well, only time will tell...
