*Chirp! - Chirp!* *Yawnnn…* I stood up slowly, inhaling the sun-lit air. I shook my head and my body slightly ; my way of trying to wake myself up.
I stretched my wings out and looked around. "Mm.." I walked out of the cave to meet the sun and wet surroundings.
Next thing I know, there are hands 'round my waist and weight on my back. "Good Morning Sam." "Morning.."
Sam has always been clingy in the mornings, usually wrapping himself around me. Of course I was fine with it. We're basically brother and sister, so.
I was sorta clingy too. I'll only cling to the ones I truly like or trust though.
The sun was bright upon it raining hard last night. Me and Sam stayed in the cave area preparing for the journey back for about 10 minutes. We didn't have to do much.
As we started walking out Samuel saw something in the distance. "..Hey what's that?" He started to point at something. "What's what?"
I looked where he pointed to see another dense part of the forest with what looked like a hole nearby. "Should we.." "Yeah, let's go check it out."
—
We were walking over to the.. thing. And when we got closer you could see, not a hole, but a path leading to another cave. At least that's what it looked like.
"Whoa, what do ya think this leads to?" "A cave…?" I said sarcastically. "Well duh." We started to walk on the path. But something felt.. different.., unsettling.., maybe even interesting.
As we walked towards the 'cave' I pointed this out. "Doesn't it feel…" I stopped. "Yeah…" Sam replied back, knowing what I was trying to say.
My wings puffed up and unfolded instantly as I started to move forward. Sam stood still, confused. I also stopped upon noticing.
"Wha-" "Why did your wings.. puff up?" He cut me off- Eh, whatever. Back to the story. "Erm. I'm not sure.. It only does that when…" My eyes widened, as did Samuel's.
My wings will only puff up when I'm in danger. Samuels does too. But he hadn't moved closer yet, so maybe that's why his didn't, yet..
"Well try coming closer? Just to make sure." He did as told. Moving closer, his did as well ; puffed up and unfolded slightly.
He was always able to keep his wings folded against his back tightly to where they wouldn't get in the way. I, unfortunately, couldn't.
I would have my wings lazily curl around me or, when working, I would have them slightly folded up against my back. But I'd still accidently bump them into things.
"That's not good.." Samuel was starting to worry about investigating this 'cave'. "Well. We could maybe go a bit farther and if they fluff up more, we'll head back?"
"That's risky-" "Yeahhh, but we gotta have some kind of risk in our life. Right?" "Erm. I guess.." And with that we started walking in.
