Fire, Water, and Time

Chapter 1

"KAI, NYA, UP. NOW!" Krux called. Kai gave a groan as his younger sister sat up and stretched.

"I thought it was the weekend." Kai groaned, reluctantly sitting up as his sister went to there shared washroom.

"It is...." Nya mumbled pulling out her tooth brush and tooth paste.

This was how they treated a week day but usually they had the weekends off, away from there yelling master.

Kai moved to his closet and pulled out a black sweat shirt and a pare of loose shorts.

Whenever Krux got them up early they would be training so Kai prepared for it.

Him and his sister never knew there real parents, the earliest memory Kai has is getting a slap on the wrist for touching one of the Great Devourer Eggs without permission.

Nya emerged from the bathroom with her brush and a hair tie. Kai finished up changing and they swapped who was where.

They would usually do this every day, at times they would try to shower but there was only really time for one of them before of the the serpent guards came busting down there door.

They simply resorted to evening showers since it was better for them to get if a days sweat off before bed.

Nya's earliest memory was of Krux picking her up and taking her somewhere while Kai held his hand. She remembered the blue the sky and green grass, something her brother could only imagine.

Kai opened his side drawer and moved to his sink. There bathroom as a good size, having a tube shower and a double sink countertop with respected drawers for each of the siblings.

Kai started to brush his teeth while he tried to multitask and do his hair. In turn his toothbrush fell out of his mouth and he let out a small cuss.

"Kai." Nya started as she leaned on the bathroom door frame.

Kai rolled his eyes and Nya went to help him with his hair. He continued to brush his teeth and she was able to finish up the last of the spikes.

"Thanks sis." Kai said as he rinsed his brush and placed it back in the drawer. He shook his head at the fact that they were up so early.

The sibling gave each other a fist bump before Nya scrambled a sweater and they left there room.

A vermilion guard was waiting for them and they waited for it to lead them.

As it started ahead so did the siblings, awaiting there morning tasks.

The guard led them into that main house/hall where Krux would usually stay.

As they made there way to the kitchen area the siblings could not help but notice there was a shift in their masters demeanour, he almost seemed...happier.

"Ah, Kai Nya, sit sit, I have some interesting news." He said with a slight smile.

The siblings hesitated but sat, as they did so he handed them each an apple as there breakfast, something he never did.

They took it reluctantly as they usually had to make themselves breakfast, if they even had time to do so.

Nya took a bite and Kai looked at it for a moment before speaking. "So what's this interesting news?" He asked taking a bite as Nya swallowed hers.

"Ya? Why get us up on one of our days off." Nya said, which prompted Kai to hit her with his elbow.

She never liked Krux, heck she almost hated him. On the other hand Kai didn't mind their master, I mean he was the only one they had.

"Well." Krux started. "There has been some noice up on the surface about someone coming, someone very important to me."

"And what does that have to do with us?" Nya continued with another bite of her apple.

Krux furrowed his brow at the girl before angling his body to Kai more.

"He is my brother."

"WHAT?!" Kai said straightening his back and almost slamming his hands on the table. Nya, this time, elbowed him for his outburst.

She also shot him a harsh look, she could tolerate a lot of things but she also hated when he would outburst like that.

"Sorry." He mumbled. Krux gave him an accepting nod before continuing.

"You two will go to the surface and retrieve him, then one of the reasons I've been training you two."

"So you want us to go up there and just...grab him?" Kai asked with a sideways look.

"He's right, I mean, he has no clue who we are, why would he trust us let alone come with us?" Nya asked.

"That's where these come into play." Krux said holding up two new uniforms, both with the clear Element of Time insignia on the hood.

Nya placed a hand on hers and smiled, she loved to get new uniforms. Kai on the other hand pulled out of the box and examined it.

He gave a high grin and lowered it so that he could see Krux over it. "Where did you manage to snag these?" He asked with a smile.

"A tailor needed a little convincing but good old Dr. Saunders was able to get some custom made "replicas.'" He said with air quotes.

"Huh." Nya said before standing.

"30 minute, then your going up." He said and the siblings nodded. "Oh and you'll also need these, since you've never been up there." He finished tossing them each a Borg Smart Watch. "They won't work all they way down here, but once you get to the surface they are programmed to the exact location they he will emerge."

They nodded and left for their room, eager to get there new suits on.

"Hopefully the tailor didn't make them out of some crapy fabric." Nya said. "I don't know, they felt like some sort of leather fabric mix, wonder how much Krux paid for these." Kai said.

"You mean didn't pay?" Nya inquired, Kai gave a simple nod as a reply.

There was a Vermilion guard waiting and as they approached, it opened there door. Nya nodded a thank you and Kai gave a slight bow.
