Y/N POV

Anne wasn't going to last much longer.

Imelda, Ominis and yourself had been sitting at her bedside for the last couple days, alternating who was watching her. You had watched her for three hours that morning, from seven to eleven, to which she hadn't woken up at all. Her breathing pattern was still irregular, she was so thin you could practically see her heart beating.

It was a horrific sight. You thought of Sebastian, and how this was bound to happen without him. If only he hadn't done what he did, so that he could be with her.

You still didn't know what it was like, where he was. How he was coping. You couldn't cry. Only stare through the window above Anne, listening to her breaths, watching the birds fly and the sun shine like their whole world wasn't about to crash down around you.

You heard someone roll over in the bed across the room. It had Imelda and Ominis in it, the sheets pulled down on Imelda's side and then pulled all the way up on Ominis'. It made you smile, briefly. Then it dropped. They had each other. And who did you have?

Imelda was sleeping peacefully, however Ominis seemed to be having a fitful sleep. He was tossing and turning, but when you looked, his eyes were closed. He looked younger in his sleep, his eyelashes so long they were almost brushing his cheekbones. His hair was tousled from moving around so much. When he started to turn over again, you watched Imelda sleepily lift her arm and put it around his body. Even in his sleep, he seemed to rest, comforted by the touch. You looked away, letting them have their intimate moment.

You missed Sebastian.

When Ominis woke up, Imelda reluctantly got up with him. The two hadn't gone to sleep until almost three in the morning, and Imelda obviously hadn't got enough sleep. Ominis had woken up so irritable and restless that they had to step outside for some fresh air. Imelda had to be one of the most kind and patient people you both knew.

When it was Imelda's turn to keep watch, she left Ominis outside and took your spot.

"How is he?" You asked, your voice raspy from not talking.

Imelda shook her head. The bags under her eyes gave away how exhausted she was. "He's not coping very well. I think we all wish Sebastian was here to.. well. To say goodbye."

You both found yourself tearing up in front of each other and Imelda leaned in for an embrace. You buried your face into her dark hair, inhaling and exhaling slowly as if to calm yourself.

"Are you going to try and get some more sleep?" Imelda asked.

"No," you said, shaking your head. "I'm just going to get dressed and go down and see Sirona."

The three of you sat around the mantelpiece, leaving Anne alone in her bed. The fire was crackling away quietly. You were all passing around butterbeer. It warmed up your chest when you took a sip, filling out to your extremities. You passed it over to Ominis, who took a swig.

"I remember when we were first years, Anne and Sebastian dared me to take the Headmasters slippers," Ominis laughed, taking another quick sip. He passed it to Imelda, who did the same. "I ended up in his office in his little detention room for like five hours! It was terrible. Anne was such a pest back then. Got it from Sebastian. Or perhaps Sebastian got it from her."

"I was such a bitch to you guys back then," Imelda giggled, her hand loosening on Ominis' to hold the cup with both hands. "Anne hated me."

"And look at you two now!" You laughed. "Thick as thieves!"
