Matt POV
The sun had just risen when I woke up, the events of the previous night still fresh in my mind. It had been a restless night, and I had barely slept. As I got out of bed and walked to the window, I thought about Olivia and the conversation we had. Her words still echoed in my head, and the more I thought about it, the more I realized how deep my feelings for her were.
It was painful to see how I had hurt her by continuing my relationship with Amber. Olivia had always been an important friend to me, but lately, I had noticed that my feelings for her went beyond friendship. I had tried to suppress these feelings, afraid of ruining our friendship and my relationship with Amber, but now I could no longer deny what I truly felt.
I felt guilty towards Amber, who was unaware of my inner struggle. I knew I had to be honest with her, no matter how difficult it would be. It was time to resolve this confusing situation and face my true feelings.
After a quick shower and a cup of coffee, I decided to drive to Amber's house. On the way, I tried to organize my thoughts and find the right words. It wouldn't be easy, but I knew it was the best thing for both of us.
When I arrived at Amber's house, I felt my heart beating faster. I got out of the car and walked to the door, my hands trembling slightly as I rang the doorbell. A few seconds later, the door opened, and there was Amber, her face lit up by a radiant smile.
"Matt! What a surprise," she said cheerfully, opening the door wider. "Come in."
I smiled weakly and stepped inside. "Thanks, Amber. We need to talk."
Amber's smile faded slightly when she heard the seriousness in my voice. She led me to the living room, and we sat down on the couch. "What's going on?"
I took a deep breath and looked her straight in the eye. "Amber, a lot has happened in the past few days, and I need to be honest with you. I've been thinking a lot, and I realize that my feelings for Olivia go beyond friendship."
Amber's face hardened, and her eyes narrowed. "So you have feelings for Olivia?"
I nodded slowly. "Yes, and I feel terrible for not being honest with you sooner. I don't want to hurt you, but I can't continue our relationship while I have these feelings."
Amber's face shifted from surprise to anger. "So you're here to break up with me? Because you're in love with someone else?"
"I'm really sorry, Amber," I said, my voice full of regret. "I never wanted to hurt you."
Amber suddenly stood up and began pacing the room. "You know what, Matt? Maybe this is all for the best. Because honestly, I only used you for your fame. Your YouTube channel and the fame that came with it – that's what I was really interested in."
Her words hit me like a slap in the face. "What?"
Amber laughed bitterly. "Yeah, you heard me right. It was fun being the girlfriend of a famous YouTuber. The attention, the fans, the feeling of importance – that's what I really fell for. Not you."
I stared at her, the truth of her words slowly sinking in. It was painful to hear, but at the same time, I felt a strange relief. The seemingly perfect facade of our relationship crumbled, and I finally saw the truth.
"So all this time, it was just for the fame?" I asked softly, still in shock.
Amber shrugged. "Yeah, and now that you know, we can move on. We were never really a good match anyway."
I stood up, my heart heavy but my mind clear. "Thank you for your honesty, Amber. I'm sorry it had to end this way."
She nodded curtly, and without another word, I left her house. As I walked to my car, I felt a mixture of sadness and relief. It was painful to realize that my relationship with Amber had never been real, but it also gave me the freedom to face my true feelings.
