Worried voices loudly chattered as they waited for the meeting to begin. The Locals of Santa Carla were aware of the curse that plagued them. They've been living in 'vampire territory' for decades.

Their town used to be quietly ruled with an iron fist by Maxwell Lawrence, but since his untimely demise in 1987, leadership has fallen on the shoulders of his 'sons,' David, Dwayne, Paul, and Marko.

Max wasn't to be trifled with in Santa Carla, but the boys took the cake. Since acquiring power, they cut a bloody swath, devouring anything in their path to satiate their hunger.

They were never satisfied, and their near-death experience made them ruthless.

Everyone was terrified.

People hid in their homes when the sun set, refusing to step one foot into the moonlight. When fall came and the nights became longer, and tourism died down, the boys took it upon themselves to find sustenance, prowling affluent neighborhoods to find victims.

Many good people perished, and out of pure desperation, the Mayor called a town meeting, inviting the boys to strike a deal.

The boys showed up for the 'food,' of course.

Hundreds of people sequestered in one spot with nowhere to run? What vampire could pass up that opportunity?

Initially, David and the boys planned to pig out—to drink until their stomachs felt like they would explode, but as Head Vampire, David realized that he had to maintain order. They needed a constant food source, not just one large smorgasbord.

So David heard the Mayor out while the boys did their 'jobs,' menacing mothers who fearfully clung to their children and pestering husbands who desired to protect their wives. The deal was that the boys would be treated like Kings and 'allowed' to kill with impunity in exchange for their mercy.

The Mayor vowed to clean up Santa Carla's image, making it appear as inviting as possible for tourists and new residents alike, so the boys would have plenty of food for decades to come.

David and the boys liked the idea of being revered and worshiped. They were feared under Max's leadership but lived in his shadow. Max was the King in '87, and David and the boys were the muscle, the ones he sent when someone had to learn their place.

So they agreed.

It took a while for the Mayor to hold up his end of the bargain. Santa Carla was a rough place in the 80s and early 90s, but after some hard work, and a couple of desperate bribes, Santa Carla went from a shithole to a beautiful sunny beachside town that people flocked to by '93.

David and the boys went from snatching anyone they could get their hands on into the sky to a buffet of new residents and tourists from around the world. Santa Carla residents happily fed innocent people to the 'The Lost Boys,' turning a blind eye to their crimes and the police covering them up as much as possible.

They were still quietly considered the 'Murder Capital' of the world, but the Mayor used his gift of gab as a politician to quell the restless minds and hearts of families and students eager to move to their 'quaint' little town.

But some people had heavy consciences. The idea of feeding unsuspecting people to monsters struck a chord with many townsfolk. In public, they accepted the agreement but secretly banded together to take a stand against David and his boys.
