"Hello, how can I help you, sweetie?" The blonde, doe-eyed mid-30s receptionist asked me, her gaze lifting from the computer before her to my face.
"Hi, I'm Aurora Huntington, you talked to me on the phone yesterday?" I said, smiling softly as I wrapped my hands nervously against the polished oak of the desk, "I'm here to see Daniel- "
"Daniel's daughter of course!" She exclaims joyfully, a huge teeth-baring grin lighting up her face and her teal eyes searched over the area around me as if scouring for someone. "Did you talk to that cute Cameron boy?"
As if summoned by her words, Rafe appears at my side, his uninterested frown dropping into a curious and surprised smirk as he stops beside me, his sparkling eyes shifting from the grinning receptionist to me.
I blushed, my face scorching under his fascinated gaze and I'm quick to divert my attention back to the loud-mouthed lady who was clearly not great at keeping any secrets.
"Oh, you did!" She claps her hands, looking up at Rafe with admiration and a bit of envy "I think what you did for her was so romantic, kids these days have no sense of chivalry or passion but that was a very sweet thing to do for your girlfriend."
"Oh no, we aren't- "I start to exclaim, my face heating like a furnace and butterflies swarming my stomach but before I can finish Rafe, cuts me off.
"Well, she's a special girl and deserves the best" He grins, his arms lifting and wrapping around my waist, and I can barely comprehend what's happening as his grip tightens and he's pulling me into his side, pressing me firmly against his body.
I fight against his touch, trying to pull back but he traps me against him like a vice, and all the fight in me vanishes as his thumb finds the gap of skin between my jeans and tank top. He caresses the pad of his thumb on that spot and my entire body turns liquid at the touch.
"I'd do anything for you, wouldn't I Princess?" He continues, his voice hewed with charm and charisma and as his head cocks down at me, his eyes meeting with mine, I can see the humour and teasing shining in them.
As if he was practically screaming 'You shouldn't have called me big boy, Princess'.
"That is so adorable" The lady squeals dragging me back to reality. She was clearly missing the blood-curdling glare that I'm giving as I look up at Rafe, my body on fire at the hand that holds my waist, the feel and warmth just right against me.
"We're here to see Daniel, I'm assuming there won't be any objections this time," Rafe says smoothly his eyes shifting back to the woman and melding into easy allure and sweetness. I scowl, my jaw locking as the lady goes all gooey-eyed at the sight, her face practically lighting up at the boy-next-door smile he gives her.
"No, no" She chirps, moving to her computer and noisily typing "He is in room 243B, second floor, the first lift on the right should take you up."
"Thank you so much... Sandy" Rafe purrs delicately and I swear that Sandy looked ready to jump his bones at the honey-sweet tone he was giving her. My eyes move down to the calligraphed handwritten name badge, and I can't help but roll my eyes in utter irritation at this entire interaction.
"Thanks for the help" I grit out, managing a strained smile before I clamp my hand down on Rafe's wrist and turn on my heel, dragging him away with me. I hear him chuckle, the sound low and hoarse and I try to ignore the pointed stare he gives me as I walk down the corridor.
I release his wrist after a few steps, instead choosing to march along myself, the annoyance flaring in my veins both a nuisance and a spark. I round the corner, stopping before the elevator and I don't waste time as I slam down on the button repeatedly.
