𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐌 𝐀𝐋𝐖𝐀𝐘𝐒 felt so empty, save from the company of Delilah and her companion Thompson. Although the other beds were always adorned with fresh sheets and a basket of a carefully crafted collage of sweets and essentials for any case someone in her house needed another room to bunk in. She always made absolutely certain that the sheets were smoothed down and smelled the freshest they could be. All in the hopes someone would knock on her door seeking sanctuary. It wasn't until the fourth year she accepted no one was coming. Now, the dressings and baskets were kin to second nature. An impulse she had to serve. At times like this, huddled in front of her desk with a pile of completed homework she wished she had what the Gryffindor girls had. Often when she visited her sister, they would head back to her dormitory and Alice would sit huddled in front of the desk her hands scrapping at her scalp. Marlene would prod and prod at Alice's silent nature, picking playfully at her as she focused on schoolwork instead of socializing. The other girls would giggle and taunt both parties and Delilah would watch with envious eyes.
Why wasn't she allowed to experience that?
Why wasn't she allowed to watch the owls fly through the sky? Instead, the murky lake water filtered through her minuscule window and she watched as the merpeople left small treasures outside her window. Treasures she could feel with her own hands, just examine and sit back at her desk.
