"Hand me that one- no, the pink one. No, the other pink one." Sim Jaeyun said strictly as a confused Yang Jungwon searched through a pile of small lego flower petals, looking for the right piece.

When he finally seemed to have found it, he held it up to the Australian boy with his eyes squinted. "Is it this one?" Jake looked at the small piece with a criticizing expression and took it from Jungwon. "No."

The cat-eyed boy then proceeded to flop onto the floor on his back with a loud sigh. "We're never going to finish thi-"

"Oh! Found it."

"FINALLY."

The male sat up again promptly with a new flame of determination in his eyes as he clicked two pieces together carefully, completing one of the flowers in the set.

At that moment his phone buzzed. Hoping for a certain person's name the pop up, Jungwon excitedly opened his phone, only to realize it had only been his mom. The message asked him to go grab some snacks from the convenience store and to bring them home.

With a sigh, the boy waved goodbye to his Australian friend and set off towards the convenience store. He arrived about 10 minutes later and stepped through the doors of the store to search for he and his sister's favorite snacks.

Only a few moments later, he heard a strangely familiar female voice.

"Oh, thank you! Actually, I don't hear that often." The words were followed by a flustered chuckle.

Then, a male voice spoke, "Wow, really? I would think you hear that every day."

Another nervous chuckle.

"Actually, you're really my type. Can I have your phone number?"

At that moment, Yang Jungwon felt his fingers unknowingly clench the snack bag he had in his hand as he peeled out from around the corner to see just what he had been afraid of.

Chae Aera was dressed in a workers vest behind the counter, being hit on by some strange boy about their age.

Before he knew it, Yang Jungwon was standing beside the unfamiliar male, facing a surprised Aera. "Sorry, she's not available."

The male's stern tone of voice was one Aera had never heard before. The other male who had previously been flirting with her looked annoyed. But, before he could argue, Jungwon suddenly spoke again. "She's taken."

Aera nearly choked on air hearing his words. What was it with his new confidence? And why was it so freaking attractive?

The other male reluctantly grabbed his things and exited the store, clearly still annoyed. This left only Aera and Jungwon, awkwardly staring in opposite directions silently.

He was the first to break the silence. "You weren't going to give him your number, right?"

"Well-" The female saw the cute boy across from her pouting and sensed an opportunity. "He was pretty handsome."

But her plan to annoy the cat-eyed boy backfired as instead of clashing back with an "Oh, really?" or a "what about me?" he simply hid his face from her view without saying a word.

A thousand thoughts circled the boy's head, but the main one was, did Aera really find him attractive? The thought of her with another person made his heart stop.

"Hey, Yang Jungwon."

The boy whirled around, still flustered, biting his bottom lip in thought.

"I'm kidding."

Despite the immense relief the boy felt, he tried to not let it show.

"But also, I guess I'm taken now?" The female joked with a small smile.

The male felt flustered as he quickly ruffled his hair, brushing it over his eyes in an attempt to hide his embarrassment. "How come you didn't tell me you had a job?"

The female glanced down at the employee vest she was wearing before looking back up at the boy. "I don't," she shrugged. Honestly, Aera had expected herself to be more embarrassed than she was around Jungwon. Maybe she was just tricking her mind into believing it wasn't a big deal.

The male looked confused until he glanced down at the name tag pinned on the vest. Kang Yunseo?

"I'm covering the shift for a girl who lives on the floor below me. Yunseo. She only moved into our building about a month ago, but she said something urgent came up and told me she would buy me fried chicken if I covered for her, so here I am."

The boy chuckled at her nonchalant explanation. "In that case," he turned to the refrigerator behind him and grabbed two drink boxes before handing them to Aera. She scanned his purchases, then handed them back only to be stopped by his warm hand. The touch sent a tingle down her spine. So maybe she wasn't over his kiss yet.

"This one is yours."
