I glanced at my wristwatch—7 PM. “Oh no! I need to leave now.”
Without informing anyone, I jumped into a cab, giving the driver my address. I knew I was taking a risk, but it wasn’t the driver I was worried about. It was... something else. Something that didn’t feel right. My thoughts were cut short when the cab finally stopped. I paid the fare and rushed inside my dorm.
Yes, I live in a dorm... alone. I wanted to move into an apartment, but my older brother insisted against it for safety reasons. And honestly, I wasn’t about to share with anyone either.
I opened the door, expecting my cozy, quiet space, but instead, all the lights were off. I distinctly remembered leaving the living room light on.
Did someone break in? Shit. Shit. Shit.
I froze for a moment before I gathered the courage to flick the lights on. What I saw made my stomach drop—seven men sitting casually on my couches, staring at me like I was the intruder. Their intense gaze sent a chill down my spine.
Is this it? Am I done for?
One of the men, an intimidating figure with orange hair, locked eyes with me. Something about his gaze felt... familiar. No, that’s not possible. I don’t know him.
I tried to push the thought away and focus on the situation. My heart raced. Am I going to die tonight?
Before I could make any sense of it, one of the men burst into laughter, completely breaking the tension.
Do I look like a joke to you?
The man laughed so hard that he struggled to speak. “S-sorry... couldn’t hold it in.” Everyone's attention shifted toward him, but I still felt that orange-haired man’s gaze piercing through me. His laughter stopped as quickly as it started, and the air grew heavy again.
The man with blonde hair spoke up, his voice deep and calm. “Don’t be scared. We won’t hurt you. Just... relax.” His voice had an uncanny way of calming me, like everything he said was... right, even though I barely understood the situation.
“My name’s Joonie,” he said with a soft smile, revealing a dimple. “Joonie?” I asked, confused. Wait, is that his real name?
“Who are you people?” My voice was shaky, and I couldn’t stop myself from asking. Something wasn’t right, and I had to know what was going on.
“We’re your bodyguards,” Joonie answered. My heart skipped a beat, and I almost felt a sense of relief, but still, everything about this felt off.
“My name’s a codename,” Joonie continued. “Can’t reveal our true identities. You can also call me Joon, or Joonie.” He gave me a wink, but I wasn’t sure if I should trust it.
The man beside him with purple hair spoke up next. “Hi, I’m Jin,” he began, but before he could finish his sentence, another man with dark hair swiftly covered his mouth, smiling awkwardly.
