Nora POV
I rush out of Nikolas' suite with tears streaming down his face. He can't commit? His confession makes me question everything he's said to me. I'm rushing out the door when Gigi catches up to me and sees my face.
"Whoa, what happened?" I go to open my mouth but the only thing that comes is sobs. Gigi wraps her arms around me and leads me outside. It's cold, but I barely notice.
"What did he do?" She asks. I take a few moments to gather myself before saying, "He said he can't commit to me." I cover my eyes with my hands, "I knew that we weren't dating, but he said he had feelings for me. And my feelings for him are so strong."
"Bullshit he can't commit. He's head over heels for you."
"Gigi, you keep saying that, but he never shows it. We just ended things."
"What?" She gasps in shock but honestly I don't know why she's surprised. Everyone seems to know something I don't, and I'm sick of it.
"What happened when he was younger?" Gigi looks at me guiltily, "Honey I can't tell you. He needs to, when he's ready."
I groan in exasperation.
"I know it's frustrating to be told that all the time, but really it's not my secret to tell."
"Whatever Gigi, I just want to go home." She nods her head in understanding and whips out her phone to call her driver. A few moments later a sleek black car pulls up in front of us.
"Do you want me to come with you?" I shake my head because I really just want to be alone right now. She gives me a hug and says, "It'll all work out. I promise."
I give her a sad smile, "Thanks Gigi." She kisses my forehead and I get in the car, ready to go home.
Nikolas POV
I'm sitting at the desk in my suite nursing a glass of whiskey when Gigi bursts into the room and yells, "What the fuck is wrong with you Nikolas?"
"I'm not in the mood for this Gigi."
"Well good thing I don't give a crap. Why did you end things with Nora?"
"God just get out, I don't have time for this."
"I don't know where you get the notion that you can talk to me like that, but it's not true. Now answer the fucking question. Why'd you end things?"
"Because I had to! I'm not good for her, she deserves better."
She rolls her eyes "Enough with that shit. She wants you Nikolas, and I'd even go as far to say that she loves you, and you're throwing her away. For what? To throw yourself a pity party?"
"You know what? Fuck you Gigi. You don't know shit."
"I may not know the whole story, but I know enough, and let me tell you: you're not your dad." I suck in a breath, shit maybe she really does know the whole story.
"I don't know what he did when you were younger, but that doesn't mean you're going to do the same thing. You two are entirely different people." Everything she is saying makes sense, but it's hard for me to believe.
"I just don't want to hurt her." I whisper, staring at my whiskey glass. I know my eyes are bloodshot from the amount of alcohol in my body right now.
She sighs and sits in the chair across my desk, "You're hurting her right now. You think you're doing the right thing, but I guarantee you, if you told Nora whatever secret you're hiding, she'd support you 100%. You have to let her in, Nikolas."
