First Full Moon
chapter eight

The school was closed a few days after what happened that night. It worked out nice, I had my time to be sad. When school reopened I didn't think I was ready. I realized it was just what I needed. To be around my friends and pretend to be okay, to laugh, to get work done.

I walked into class a few minutes late, but Mr.harris didn't seem to care. He was to busy telling Scott to sit down.

I slid into a seat next to Stiles before Mr.Harris could notice I had come in 5 minutes after the bell.

"Smooth, Hale." Stiles whispered to me. I snickered and held out my hand for a high five. He rolled his eyes as he slapped my hand.

"You have 45 minutes to complete the test. 25% of your grade can be earned right now simply by writing your name on the cover of the blue book. However, as happens every year, one of you will inexplicably fail to put your name on the cover, and I'll be left yet again questioning my decision to ever become a teacher. So let's get the disappointment over with. Begin."

I stared down at the paper full of questions. I took in a deep breath and closed my eyes.

You can do this. It's only a test. Don't get stressed.

My train of thought was interrupted when a pumping sound filled my ears. I turned my head in the direction it was coming from and my eyes landed on Scott. His chest moved up and down rapidly and his brows where furrowed.

I tapped Stiles on the shoulder. He looked up from his test and at me with a confused look. I pointed to Scott and Stiles' face scrunched up.

I could almost feel his heart beat in my own chest. I felt light headed the more the beat went on.

All of a sudden, Scott stood up and stormed out of the classroom. Stiles and I gave each other a concerned look before following him out of the room.

"Mr. McCall? Mr. Stilinski, Ms. Hale!"

I fell behind Stiles, chasing Scott into the boys lockers room.

We found him in the showers without a shirt but has pants where still on.

"Scott?" I slowly steeped closer. The shower turned off and Scott turned around.

"I can't-" he gasped.

"What's happening? are you changing?" Stiles asked.

"No. No, I can't breathe." He responded breathlessly. I turned to Stiles who reached into Scott's bag and pulled out his inhaler and tossed it to Scott.

Scott's heart beat slowed down and I let out a loud sigh. I plopped down on the floor and leaned against the the wall.

"I was having an asthma attack?" Scott asked.

"No, you were having a panic attack. But thinking you were having an asthma attack actually stopped the panic attack. Irony."

I breathlessly let out a small laugh at Stiles. He's a complete spaz but he can be smart sometimes.

"How'd you know how to do that?" Scott asked.

"I used to get them after my mom died. Not fun, huh?"

"It was like I could feel everything in the room, everyone else's emotions."

"I could literally feel your heart beat in my own chest." I spoke out. Both they're heads turned towards me. Confused looks on their faces.

"Don't look at me, your the werewolf experts." I spat.

"It's got to be the full moon. So we'll lock you both up in Scott's room later just like we planned. That way the Alpha, who is your boss, can't get to you, either."
