Party Hard
Chapter four

I shut the door behind me and leaned my back against the door. I squeezed my eyes shut and listened to Scotts feet crunch the leaves as he walked away. When I couldn't hear his footsteps anymore I pushed myself off the door and walked into the living room. No lights where on in the house so I was a little creeped out.

"Derek?!" I called. My voice echoed off the walls of the rickety house. A shuffling came from the left side of the living. I tilted my head that way but only saw the moon lit walls. I felt my heart rate increase fear welled inside me.

"Derek?" I mumbled. When I heard no response I walked in the direction of the sound, like any idiot in a horror movie. As I moved closer, I began to hear heavy breathing and froze. I held my hand to my mouth and took small breaths as to not get the attention of the intruder.

I stood there, frozen with fear as the stranger appeared, their body only a figure in my eyes. They came closer, but I was to afraid to move.

"Amber?"

I let out a long sigh of relief when Derek stepped out into the moonlight and revealed himself. My heart slowed and my shaky hands calmed.

"You scared the crap out of me Derek!" I shouted, punching him on the arm. He barley flinched.

"Sorry, I...just got back from a run." He said hesitantly, as if he was unsure. I opened my mouth to ask why he lied but stopped myself. I was to emotional warn out to start anything with Derek.

"Okay well, I'm gonna head to bed. Goodnight." I sighed, turning away from him and heading towards the stairs.

"Night, Amber."

I woke to a clap of thunder.  The ramshackle house shook which startled me and caused me to fall from my bed. When I landed on the floor,  a throbbing pain shot to my forehead.

"Shit." I spat. I slowly pushed my self up from the floor and leaned my back against the bed. Several minutes later, there was a knock at the door.

I grunted loudly as I slowly made my way down stairs and to the door. I pulled the door open and leaned against it due to dizziness.

"Amber, are you okay?!" Scott gasped, holding his hands out as if I was going to fall.

"Yeah, I...just hit my...head." I struggled to say.

"I guess thats karma for hitting me yesterday." Stiles laughed, pointing to the matching bruise on his forehead.

"What are you doing here so early? Come in" I stepped aside letting them in. They where soaking wet. Probably from walking here from the jeep in the rain.

I closed the door and led them into the living room. Scott walked by be closely, still acting as if at any moment I was going to fall. To ease his worry, I sat down on the couch.

"Okay, why are you here so early?" I asked again.

"Well our friends canceled on account of-"

"He didn't tell you that by his friends he meant me and me only" Stiles interrupted. Scott awkwardly put his hands in his pocket and looked around with wondering eyes.

"Oh, well doesn't matter." I said, actually relived that it was only the two of them.  "We could just hang our here, watch some movies" I suggested.

"That's what we where hoping you'd say. Stiles brought movies" Scott pointed the the bag Stiles had on his back.

"Do you like Star Wars?" Stiles asked.

My eyes widened with excitement. "YES! Star Wars was my childhood!" I cheered. Stiles punched the air goofily which made me laugh.

"Dude, I like her. She's a keeper." I heard Stiles whisper to Scott. Their whispering skills aren't very well.

"I know." Scott replied with a cute smile. I tried hiding my silly smile but failed when Stiles raised an eyebrow and nudged Scott.

Scott, Stiles, and I all sat huddled by Stiles' laptop, covered in blankets. We had one big bowl of popcorn which we all had our hands shoved in. Half way threw The Empire Strikes Back, I heard someone enter the house.

"Hey, I'm gonna check if that's Derek." I stated but they where to busy drooling over princesse Layah. I rolled my eyes and hopped up from the floor.

"Derek?" I called, entering what used to be the kitchen.

"Amber?" His voice came from around the corner. "I thought you where supposed to be out with some friends?"

"Yeah, well I am but we're watching a movie here." I said as he walked into view.

"By friends do you mean Scott and Stiles?" He asked sounding unsurprised.

"Yeah." I laughed at his bitter demeanor.

"Well, when you finish the movie you need to go back to your moms. I saw her earlier and she said she wished you'd be home."

"Technically this is my home. Plus I hate that house, it gives me the creeps." I whined like a child. Derek rolled his eyes unassumingly.

"And the huge, half burnt down house where people died doesn't?" He argued.

"I don't think of it that way. I think of it as the house I grew up in. You know, cup half full not half empty." I moved my hands up and down like a scale.  Derek just laughed and walked away.

I had Stiles drop me off at my moms house later that day. I really didn't want to stay there but Derek said he'd throw me out if I tried to stay there during the week.

So, I found myself at the front of 'my house' dragging my feet across the ground in gloominess. I took out the house key and unlocked the front door. I walked in and slammed the door closed.

"I'm home!" I called lazily. A loud thump came from the kitchen followed by shuffling foot steps. When my mom came into view she had a wide smile on her face.

"Amber, your in you pajamas!" She cheered. I sloped my shoulder, if that is a thing, in annoyance. My mom stuck out her bottom lip making a pouty face. I mocked her.

"Aw, don't be sad. You'll see Derek all the time. I just want you home some of the times."

"Okay mom I get it..." I sighed. "...I'm gonna go to bed." I reached out and hugged her.

"Wait don't you want dinner first?" She looked down at me with a motherly glare.

"No, I had some with my friends." I said turning my back to her but only to be pulled back around.

"Friends?" She cocked her head like a puppy reminding me of Scott when he does that.

"Yeah, Stiles Stilinski and Scott McCall."

"Oh, I work with Scotts mom. She's so sweet" she smiled.

"Looks like you made a friend to..." I patted her shoulder. "Now I'm gonna sleep. Have a nice night." I said and with that I turned around and headed for my room.
