all night her eyes searched for him in the crowd. she knew where he was, she knew as soon as her eyes met him, they wouldn't be able to look anywhere else.

taylor had wondered weather it was safe for him to be here in such a big crowd. what with all the crazy people in the world and all the fans, she was initially worried about him being here tonight.

"it'll be fine, love," joe would tell her. hearing those four words out of his mouth always comforted her. the words would be accompanied by a hug, his arms wrapped tightly around her, never planning on letting go.

maybe he'd plant a kiss on her head, ruffle her dirty blond hair with his hands.

there wasn't anytime for taylor to express these concerns to him. he'd only just got here. right off his plane, to the stadium.

taylor skipped off stage with a bounce in her step. she's so happy. so happy.

she takes a moment to relish in her happiness, to swim in it and she can feel she's smiley as she walks quickly to her dressing room.

her clothes are piled up on the sofa in the corner of the room. taylor planned to get out of their as quickly as possible. it was past 11 o'clock after all.

the room is a bit messy. her costumes weren't hung up or anything. they sat in a messy pile on the floor.

she rolled her eyes. there was a knock on the door. whoops. she didn't mean to close it. taylor turned towards the door, opening it with a smile, her happiness and excitement was yet to fade.

there behind the door stood joe, her joe.

"oh my god, hi!"

taylor swung herself into his arms. he caught her effortlessly with a laugh, lifting her off her feel and spinning her around.

"hi, hi, hi, hi! i missed you," she dragged out.

joe laughed again and set her down, getting a clear look at her face. she was overly smiley, he knew she would be.

her radiant face was streaked with sweat. he thick bangs subtly stuck to her forehead. joe grabbed her cheeks in his hands, pulling her face towards his and kissing her.

as they pulled away, both of them smiled wider. taylor hooked her fingers with joes and pulled him further in the room.

"that was so amazing!"

taylor giggled. her arms laced around his neck.

"well i'm glad you liked it," she beamed.

"well i'm glad i avoided spoilers," he joked in return.

she giggled again. it wasn't that funny but honestly she was on a high of happiness so anything was funny.

it was sure to die down soon anyway and exhaustion would set in. joe hugged her against his chest. she breathed him in, clutching his t-shirt with her fingers.

she could feel his hands on her back, his fingers delicately drawing shapes with invisible ink spraying out of his fingertips.

"can we go home?"

———————————————————————————

when they step inside their house, taylor is incredibly grateful for the lack of cameras pointed at her face.

for a person who doesn't like cameras and unwanted photos, tour wasn't her first preference of a way to spend her evening. but she loved performing and she loved her fans, so she did.

however taylor also loved home.

"did you want some tea before bed, darling?" joe asked her. he gravitated towards the kitchen.

taylor shook her head, "sleep. so tired."

she was definitely right about the excitement of the night wearing off. all she wanted to do was lay in bed.

joe nodded, following her up the stairs towards the bedroom. taylor was comfortable enough not to change. she stretched out on the bed in a light blue wool sweater and grey sweatpants.

joe disappeared into the bathroom, telling her he'll be quick. he tucks her in before he leaves.

she knows she won't be able to sleep without him here. even if she knows he's in the other room, even if she knows he'll be back in a minute.

the curtains are still open. moonlight bleeds in. taylor finds she can't keep her eyes open and even though she thought sleep may not come, it has.

she feels the bed shift with joes added weight. he tucks her in his arms and her head presses harder into his chest.

"i'm so proud of you."
