THOSE DAYS

our little fight

The next day , I was sitting in the classroom while it was our lunch break. After some time , I saw Arlo coming towards me with a bag full of snacks and to my surprise, they were all my favorite. He came slowly and sat beside me before passing the bag he brought to me . I knew it was his trick but it was so tempting because those snacks were the speciality of the town where I lived before and it was really very difficult to find it here . I missed the taste of my hometown do I took the snacks deliberately. He stared at me for long before saying

"Is it good ? Enjoy it . When you finish it , I want to discuss something with you "
" For the sports meeting, I won't participate in it . Our physical education teacher won't agree as he got the order to not let us participate in all those things as it is already our last year in school and we need to score good to take admission in a good college. So , he won't agree."
" Oh ! So you were worrying that our teacher won't agree . Think about it . If we win and go back with honor , the principal will be happy and then our teacher won't say anything to you , right ?  "
" It does make some sense "
" Besides , if you're good in PE then you can get extra scores in exam "
"Really?"
"Of course, I'm telling you the truth "
" Then I should think about it "
" Why bother? You don't have good grades anyway . Do you ? You should make it up with your PE performance"
"Right ! Because I don't have good grades, I need to study harder . Go find someone else !! "
" How can you change... "
" Can't you understand my words!? I said I won't join you !"
"Mind your attitude! Don't think you can talk to me like that since I'm begging you to do something! "

Why was he always trying to get over my nerves ? Maybe he was too obsessed with seeing me suffer . I was quite interested in joining the event cause I liked participating in games but my blood boiled as soon as he mentioned my grades. I know that I'm not that good at studying but I was trying. I was trying to improve myself so my parents would be proud of me and our class teacher won't regret keeping me in this school . But all he did was demotivating me again and again by mentioning how bad I was at studying. It really made me think If I was capable but damn , I'm trying. I am trying to make myself a better version of me but why can't anyone see that ? I guess everyone is blind till they can see the efforts one is putting in improving themselves for others so they can be the ideal one to fit this weird society. It was already hard for me to fit in this new school as the level of difficulty in teaching here was quite different from my previous school.
Not quite but a lot
But all I could do was 'try ' and I was trying. I was so angry , sad and mad at the same time that I was just going to leave the room till Kiara came to me . She was my only friend who saw my capabilities and supported me in every way . She said

" Catherine, what's wrong? Calm down first "
" Right , why should I increase my blood pressure because oh him "
" Be relaxed "

Just then Noah also entered the room and came towards Arlo . There were just the four of us in the classroom and the tension rose up when I could no longer take it and shouted

" Arlo , I don't want to see you now . Get out of here right now !! "
" Catherine, do you think that I can do anything to you !? "
" You want a fight !? Come here , break my legs  and I won't be able to run. Come on  "
" You ..."

I waited for him to complete his sentence but he didn't even said a word after that . I was so annoyed but I couldn't fight anymore so I took out my earphones so that I could forget it all and focus on listening to a beautiful melody . I took out my earphones and plugged it to my phone but the earphones weren't working. I remembered that I didn't used them from the day Arlo took it and ran away with it and now they weren't working. I just tried my best to not say anything now but I was too angry and annoyed that I couldn't even control myself . It felt like someone was controlling me when I took a few steps towards Arlo and my rage burst out

" Arlo ! "
" What are you shouting about !! Can't you be quite !? "
" I have things to say and I need to make it clear freaking right now  ! "
" What if I won't care to listen !? "
" Well you have to listen "
" Well , the choice is mine dumbhead "
" Who are you trying to call dumbhead!? "
" I don't think there is anyone capable of having this tag except you ... Dumbhead "
" Well I can see you "
" Trying to act smart huh ! "
" Unlike someone who can't even act smart "
" Better than you , dumbhead "

I was going to say something to defend myself in this argument which seemed more like a dumb fight till Lucas interrupted and said

" Have you two watched too many dramas ? Acting dramatically ?Have you both finished the homework teacher gave us yesterday? "

Why was he always talking about studies? Well , can't complain cause he was a topper but still . He was always busy in studying and was more like a teacher's pet . But it was no surprise because he literally deserved to have that title . I was looking at him in awe till Arlo began to shout again

" Well , there's someone who may have watched too many dramas just to fight me "
" You broke my earphones and you're still making me the guilty one !? "
" How can you prove that it's me who broke it!? "
" You want to deny it ? "
" I'd say you are slandering me "
" What made you say so when the one who is guilty is you . Save the crap and buy me a new pair of earphones "
" I won't argue with girls. Don't...disturb...me...! "
" How can there be someone who's so annoying like you ? "

Before he could listen to anything more , he left the classroom with his mate , Noah . I was just so angry at that time but suddenly I felt a pat on my shoulder . I thought it was Kiara but when I turned around , it was Lucas .
Why was he here now
I was already very annoyed that I couldn't think of anything but smashing all the things around me but sadly , I couldn't do it . It wasn't because I feared anything or anyone but because I couldn't afford to do so . Soon then Lucas started to speak

" Do you want me to check it for you ? "
" No thanks. It wouldn't work "
" Catherine, are you still mad at me ? I'm sorry . I apologize to you "
" You...you don't need to apologize to me . You indeed helped me to improve my grades . It's me who should thank you "
" Then now , can I check it for you ?"
"Hmm ...take it "
He took it from me and stared at it for a long time, checking every part of it in detail till saying

"Not a big problem"
"You can Repair the earphones ?"
"Just a hobby . Some mixed skill you could say . My grandma's television to Arlo's play station , I fixed them all ."
" Lucas , you are wonderful . Thanks to you then . You are at least not as annoying as someone"
" Catherine, don't worry.  I'll surely fix it for you "
"Thank you then "

After thanking him , I went towards my seat and I was quite happy for two different reasons. One was that Lucas came to me and apologized when he didn't even had to and talked with me as nicely as he did before and second was because now I didn't had to waste my savings again to buy a new pair of earphones . It felt like god was with me sometimes .
Well God could not be with me everytime but when he did , I had wonders working
