Bermuda’s head shot up, scattering her thoughts.
“What was that?” Saline demanded, sitting upright. The other leaders around her look disturbed.
What was that? Bermuda dashed out of the meeting hall into the snowy rainforest. The was a fight happening- and battle.A SandWing was facing off with a glass dragon, and two more of the translucent statues were slinking from the frostbitten under brush.
“No!” Carmine screamed, and hot flames licked the edges of Bermuda’s scales as the firescale SkyWing launched herself past Bermuda and at the nearest glass dragon. The statue’s head snapped towards her with a sickening cracking noise. At the base of its head, there were web-like breaks in the glass.
Carmine’s jaws snapped open and unleashed blue-white fire, with little trails of yellow at its feathery edges. The hot flames engulfed the statue, and a hot glob of glass flew off it’s nose as it whipped its head towards Carmine.Sharp claws dug into Bermuda’s back, and she felt the cold glass talons clamber up her neck. Her heart dropped, and her ducked and rolled, smashing the glassed dragon into a stone wall. The head splintered into a million pieces and the statue went limp.
Satisfied, Bermuda backed up and went to help Jeweldreamer, who was pushing back the snapping jaws of a glass statue. She smashed into the side of the dragon with her tail, and Bermuda saw splintering cracked in her wake. She felt a sharp pain, and realized that glass shards were stuck in her tail.
Something knocked the air out of Bermuda’s lungs, and she fell forwards. She tried to roll on her back again, but the headless glass dragon raised its talon to deliver the killing blow.
Bermuda closed her eyes and raised her arms to block the blow, but the weight was lifted off of her as the glass dragon got knocked off of her. She opened her eyes to see Jellyfish grappling with the glass dragon. Its sharp claws slashed into her skin, and Bermuda grabbed the neck and smashed it against the frozen ground. It shattered into a million pieces, and the little pieces embedded themselves into Bermuda’s bleeding talons.
“Oh, jeez,” Jellyfish said, wiping a scratch on her forehead. Bright red blood seeped into the lines in her palm. “I’m pretty bloody, aren’t I?”
“Quite so,” Bermuda said. She looked down at a slash on her chest. “Is everyone okay?”
“Yeah,” she heard Jeweldreamer say. “A little shaken up, but okay.”
“I don’t think there were any casualties.” Saline said, kicking snow on the remains of a glass statue. “Thank the moons.”
“Where did they come from?” Carmine asked, looking at Bermuda.
“I saw some coming out of the bushes,” Bermuda said, nodding and pointing and the bushes. “Not sure where beyond that, though.”
“This could be the fault of your RainWing friend,” Carmine said with an eyeroll. “Who else would have the power to summon hostile glass dragons?”
“A glass zombie plant,” Cloudy said, Jeweldreamer snickered, even though no one else did.
“Hardy har,” Saline said, narrowing her eyes. “Seriously though, who do you think did this?”
“I do think it was Aconi,” Jellyfish said while Stratus used a rag to clean her wounds. “She would probably do something like that.”
“But why?” Stratus asked. “Why make all these glass dragons, and just not cast a spell to kill us?”
