“Shit,” Shiver said, and dropped her arm in disbelief. Bermuda took advantage of this, and dashed into battle. She knew she couldn’t attack Aconi directly, no, but she would keep a safe difference from her while fighting.

Bermuda collided with the nearest Glass, her talons scratching awful trails along its crystalline skin. It's jaws snapped at her, creating tiny, shallow cracks in its face and mouth. Bermuda grabbed his face, trying to keep it away from closing in on her.

The weight lifted a little as Jasmine burst through the Glass with ferocious  speed, shattering it into a billion pieces.

"My knight in shining armour," Bermuda said dramitically, throwing a hand across her forehead.

"Damsel in distress," Jasmine said, landing in front of Bermuda, crouched in a battle position.

"I totally had him," Bermuda said, giving Jasmine a playful look.

Halfway through Jasmine's eyeroll, she ducked and knocked Bermuda down as a flaming suspended bridge swung down above them.

"So not fair," Bermuda chuckled, and shoved Jasmine's face into the snow as she leapt up.

Immediately in her face was a snarling Saline, bristling, and covered in soot and blood.

"What in the fucking moons above are you grinning about?" Saline snapped, hissing.

"I-I'm sorry ma'am," Bermuda said, throwing up her talons. A burst of flames licked their fins and sails, so they leapt behind a half collapsed wall.

"Tell me, what's so funny about laughing when everything you've worked for is literally up in flames?!" Saline yelled at Bermuda, throwing her bloody talons in the air.

"I know, ma'am, I understand. I was- watch out!" Bermuda started, and grabbed Saline and pulled her out of the way. A glass dragon and hissing RainWing slammed into the ground, both landing on their side. The RainWing died instantly, and the Glass shattered into a million pieces. Saline let out a cry, and dove towards the RainWing. Bermuda and Jasmine exchanged a look, and then followed Saline.

"No, no!" Saline cried, holding the limp RainWing. She was young- not younger than Bermuda herself, but her eyes were youthful, and had a slim, muscular body.

"Who was she?" Jasmine asked tentatively, spreading a wing over Saline and the body.

"One of my apprentices," Saline whispered. "Her name was Banana. She was one of my favorite apprentices."

"Apprentice?" Bermuda asked. Jasmine shot her a look as Saline continued.

"That son-of-a-bitch," Saline set, her eyebrows narrowing and set her jaw. Her wings tips shook, and she closed the eyes of the deceased RainWing. The SeaWing rose, and let out a haunting, grievous roar.

"I'm so sorry, I wish-" Bermuda began.

"I'll fucking kill that purple rat," spat Saline, wheeling around and crouching to take flight.

"Ma'am," Jasmine said. "I don't think she can die. You'll only kill yourself."

Saline hissed at Jasmine, shook her head, and dashed forwards to attack a Glass sneaking up on a couple of tussling dragons.

"Ooh, hello," a crackly voice shouted from above. Hee heart leaping into her chest, Bermuda and Jasmine looked up to see none other than Aconi hovering in the sky. She wasn't even actually using her wings- just floating, as if she were suspended by spider webs.

"Just leave us alone!" Bermuda roared.

"Oh, okay then!" Aconi said, and with a whisp of smoke, she disappeared.
