“Moons above,” Cloudy said as they were once again led through the dungeons. They still looked traumatized, rightfully so.
“Yeah,” Bermuda said. She looked up at Dart, who’s face was grim.
“Killed our fucking officiant,” he snapped. Red was pushing at his scales, rage trying to overtake his ‘dresscode’. “For an example. To make a point.”
“Are… you mad at us?” Cloudy asked, tentatively.
Dart breathed hard through his nostrils. He closed his eyes for a moment. “No, no I’m not. I think I’m angry at Aconi.”
“But you can’t do anything about it, can you?” Bermuda asked.
“Nope. Not a thing.” Dart said through gritted teeth. “And- I’m sorry about this.”
“What?” Bermuda asked, as metal- not glass chains snaked from the ground to Bermuda’s feet. They clasped around Cloudy’s aswell, and Bermuda heard yells of surprise from the two other prisoners.
“I mean… It could be worse.” Bermuda said, lifting her talon. The chains made a chilly clanking noise.
“It is.” Dart sighed. “You and Cloudy have been ordered to stay in separate cells until the foreseeable future.”
“What?” Cloudy and Bermuda cried at the same time. “Why?” Cloudy asked.
Dart could only shrug. “Queen’s orders.”
Bermuda’s head drooped. Even though they had had their recent argument, the ability to be near one of her closest friends was helping with the pain.
“And I’ve been ordered to lock the doors. I tried to get away with them being unlocked, for your guys’ sake, but she’s threatening me with death.” Dart sighed. He led Bermuda into a cell, across from Iodine, next to Bleach. She could barely see Cloudy diagonal from her, peering at her through the bars.
“I’m sorry guys.” Dart said, bowing his head. He back up and out of the aisle, back up to the palace. As he left, the yellowy lamps went out, casting them in darkness. The daylight outside cast haunting beams through the dungeon.
Bermuda sat in the darkness, gripping the bars.
She bowed her head, breathing heavy.
She was so mad. So, so mad.
Bermuda snorted, and raised her head. “Okay. What’s the plan?”
“The plan?” Iodine asked, looking up at her. Cloudy peeked at her from their cell.
“Shh!” Bleach hissed. “They can hear!”
“I don’t care anymore.” Bermuda snapped.
“We will die!” Bleach yelled.
“Shut up then!” Bermuda bellowed. “No point on screaming if you’re going to die!”
“Besides,” Iodine added in a cooler tone. “We’ll all die if we stay. We have a chance to live if we try escape.”
“Arrggh,” Bleach grumped, the gravel crunching under his feet as he paced. Iodine raised an eyebrow at Bermuda.
“Do we fight our way out?” Cloudy suggested.
“It could work,” Iodine said. “They can be smashed to pieces, frozen, and melted. We could fight our way out.”
“We don’t know how many Glass there are. Plus, there are actual RainWing soldiers here. I can almost guarantee they are much smarter and better fighters than the Glass.”
