chapter 20 - final

Doyoung signed the consent paper in front of Taeil and the staff nurse in charge. He gave the paper away and the staff left the room after finishing her work. Doyoung glanced at Haru who was sitting on the bed with Taeil. His little girl was busy telling Taeil what she wants to do after Taeil was discharged, basically saying that she was wishing her father well.

Taeil was asked to stay in the hospital a day before the surgery. Doyoung is a professional now, he doesn't need the staff to tell him the procedure. This will be the third time signing the consent paper. Taeil manages to save Haru back in the day however Haru's new baby sibling won't live.

Doyoung is tired of asking. The power was in Taeil's hands if he wants the baby to live.

"Haru –yah, want to stay here with appa?" Doyoung asked, looking carefully at his daughter's face.

"Mm," Haru stop talking to Taeil as she looked at Doyoung, pretending to think, "Daddy stay here with us."

"Daddy can't. Daddy has work." Doyoung says, touching Haru's cheek softly, completely ignoring Taeil's existence.

"Haru stays here with appa," She answered, hugging Taeil tightly.

Doyoung let out a soft chuckle. Pinching the soft cheek as he bid goodbye to Haru and finally lifted his eyes to look at Taeil. It was an empty stare and Taeil feel sad all of a sudden. Doyoung had completely ignored him after Jungwoo's wedding.

When Taeil apologizes for not inviting Doyoung and tells him the reason why he didn't invite him, Doyoung didn't even say anything. Just a simple nod as he dismissed Taeil.

No one actually noticed it. Taeyong was acting like usual. Haru tried to always be by Taeil's side once she knows her appa was admitted to the hospital. No one noticed that Doyoung was completely erasing Taeil from his life.

But Taeil knows.

Doyoung usually had his sappy smile when he looks at Taeil. He always tried to hold hands with him and always tried to talk to Taeil. Even after Taeil rejected him so many times, he will still sometimes come to Taeil's apartment – to see Haru or as simply as to leave his presence there.

He was serious about still taking responsibility for Taeil because Taeil is still his daughter's father. Most of the time Taeil finds it bothersome because he didn't want Taeyong to misunderstand anything. And Taeil had convinced himself so many times that he will live well without Doyoung.

It wasn't as easy as he thought.

Doyoung had been in his life since forever. He was a big person in his life. Now that Doyoung finally let him go, like how he wanted it to be – Taeil find a big hole in his life. Seeing Doyoung acting like a total stranger is hurting Taeil.

It's been a whole week and Taeil still can't get used to it.

The soft words of motivation he got from Doyoung during random times, just random touch. Taeil take a deep breath, a loud sigh left his lips and Haru started panicking beside him. Taeil feels bad that at such a young age, Haru was in the hospital quite a lot. Not because she was sick – but to watch her loved one fighting for their life.

Taeil was scared of not being able to take care of his new baby alone. He didn't want to bother Taeyong's marriage again. Taeil saw how much Taeyong is trying to be a good husband for Doyoung. He was focusing on himself and Taeil love it so much.

Growing up, Taeyong was obsessed with Taeil and he was never himself. He was busy trying to copy Taeil's happiness and Taeil tried to not blame Taeyong for it. Taeyong suffered as much as he did. Taeil grew up in the same household. He knows it wasn't easy for Taeyong as much as it was hard for him too.
