Then the last thing you did was finally put on your pajamas. Slipping into the well-worn and loved set you made sure you grabbed. The stupid set comforted you, even if the world around you made you uneasy. You've had them for so long that they really should be thrown away. It had holes everywhere and was almost see-through. But you just couldn't force yourself to part with them yet.

And by the time you finally leave the bathroom, the house was quiet. More than you thought it should be with the foul-mouth anger machine. Lurking around somewhere. It was evening now, with the sun finally settling on the horizon. The house was bathed in the golden glow of the sun saying its goodbye for the day.

It made the older house that was your temporary home look that much more charming. The creaky floors and old style of the wallpaper seemed like a lovely reminder. This house was loved at one point. Probably filled with the laughter of small children. And family dinners gathered around a large table.

A place that someone called home before Katsuki bought it.

As you walk down the hallway you see the light in the kitchen shining brightly. Dimming the glow of the fading light from the uncovered windows. The smell of strong spices and the quiet bang of pans drew you closer to the area.

You are met with the pleasant surprise of Katsuki cooking. Wrapped up in his tasks of chopping vegetables and stirring food in a pan. Lost in his own little world unaware of the way you lingered in the doorway and watched him.

Wiping his hands clean and throwing the small towel to lie on his shoulder before he picks back up the spatula. Gently stirring the sizzling food, he takes a moment to pick up his phone and reply to a text.

He looked so calm, and in his element in this kitchen. It was a rare sight to see, nothing obscuring his face other than a faint smile. You remember the way he used to cook for you when your mother had to work late. Coming over to your house and raiding your fridge to make a meal just for the two of you.

Working just like this, but keeping a small conversation going on with you. Falling into a weird domestic situation, like you were playing house or something.

"Grab plates and make yourself useful." He says as he locks his phone and slides it back into his pocket.

He doesn't look over at you, and you feel a shutter of uneasiness creep up your spine. How the hell did he even know you were there?

But you shake off the feeling and push yourself off the doorframe. Heading into the kitchen to help as much as he would allow. Taking an educated guess. That this kitchen was set up very close to what his mothers was, where he kept everything. And you were right mostly.

The entire kitchen was laid out almost identically to the one at his childhood home. Which brought up more questions for you as you pull two plates from the cabinet and set them beside the stove. Taking the time to find the cups and filling them with a nice cold drink for you both.

"Did you really organize your kitchen like your mom's?" You ask giggling at the thought.

"Who the hell do you think organized her kitchen in the first place?" He snaps back while he picks up the first plate and slides a portion of food onto it.

By the time you had filled the cups and pulled out the utensils to eat. He was already sliding both plates onto the table. Not bothering to wait on you to sit down before he takes his seat. The two of you eating in a skyward silence to start. Unwilling to be the first one to open your mouth and say something to him. Nothing but the soft hum of the refrigerator filling up with ice. And the birds chirping in the evening sky made noise.

That was until he decided to speak up.

"There are rules while you are here." He says in a casual tone, finally looking up from his plate to meet your eyes.
