Ana's POV

Luke walks with me to Calculus as he holds my hand in his. I never understood why he would take my hand I mean we weren't official, but I didn't question it. I think I just went with it because I trusted him. I let go of his hand as we enter the classroom. He gives me a little pout, "Why did you let go?" I giggle at his reaction. "Because we are in class, not to mention we are in your Mom's class! There should be no PDA in the classroom." I tell him then take a seat in my desk then he takes the seat next to me. "Hi." He tells me as Mrs. Hemmings hands us the assignment for the day. She smiles at Luke and I which wasn't out of the ordinary, but it was the same look that Michael had given me earlier that day. It was as if I was missing out on something, like they were keeping some big secret from me. I looked at Luke and he gave me a shrugged so I shrugged off what I was thinking about and focused on getting my work done for the day. When I was finished with all of my work I saw Luke had finished his paper too and was working on something in his notebook. "Are you working on a new song or?" I ask. "Something like that," I raise an eyebrow at him to which he just gives me smile. "You'll see soon enough." I shrug my shoulders. "Okay." The bell rings and I pack up my things. I look around for my book, but see it's already in Luke's hands. "Wow that was fast." I remark and he gives me a smile. "You've got to be quicker Ana." He tells me and I laugh. As we walk out of the classroom Luke grabs my hand once again. I look up at him. "Well we aren't in my Mom's classroom so I figured that this was okay now." I blush a little and nod my head. "Yes this is okay." I tell him as we head to Biology. I take my seat and he takes the seat right next to me. "Morning Mikey! Hi Sam! I hope you guys are having a good day." I chirp. Sam just gives me a look that somewhat scares me a bit while Michael just tells me that I'm way too happy for being in school. I laugh a bit nervously and feel slightly awkward until the teacher hands me our assignment for us to work on. It takes me a little bit more time that usual to finish the assignment because of Luke being a constant distraction but I get my work done on time. The rest of the day passes until I have to go to soccer practice. I wait by the locker room to see Luke before I head to practice. He rushes to me and looks excited. "Hey," he tells me with the biggest grin on his face. "So I have some things I need to take care of but I'll see you after your practice." He tells me then kisses my cheek before he leaves me. Luke had been more hyper than usual lately and I didn't know why. I shrug my shoulders and shake it off. i had my first game that I needed to focus on. I go into the locker room and change into my gear then walk on the field. I see all of my teammates and lead them in our stretches before we start doing drills. Coach didn't want us running too much a day before a game. We went over some plays and spent time bonding as a team before Coach ended practice. I stayed on the field while everyone left. I decided to take a few extra shots at the goal before I went inside to shower and change. I always did this the day before a game, but this time it was different. It was different because this was usually the time Calum and I would use to calm each others nerves about the big day that lied ahead of us. After I took one last shot I decided to sit down as I felt tears running down my face. I was feeling such an enormous amount of pressure and the guy that was usually there for me just wasn't anymore. I wipe my tears and head to the locker room. As I head in I hear Michael, Calum, and Sam laughing about something. I ran into the locker room as I felt a bit betrayed. I mean it was one thing to give up time with Michael like he had a girlfriend now. However Calum wasn't dating her yet here he was spending time with her and Michael while completely ignoring me. I cried a lot in the shower then changed. I took a look in the mirror and saw that my eyes were all red and puffy. You could totally tell that I had been crying earlier. I took a deep breath and tried to cheer up because Luke would be waiting fore me. I open the door and leave the locker room. I saw Luke waiting for me. He was definitely someone I could count on. I walk up to him and say nothing but just pull him into a deep hug. He hugs me back then looks at me. "Whoa have you been crying?" He asks me and I just nod my head. "How about we go get some ice cream and you can tell me what is going on." I give him a small smile before taking his hand. "Okay Luke." We head to my car and I drive us to the pizza place Luke and I liked the most. We order and since I don't feel like putting up a fight he pays. We go sit down to eat our ice cream at a booth. "So what is going on? Why are you so upset?" He asks me with a concerned tone. I explain the whole Calum situation, our tradition and how he was completely ignoring me. "Wow I am sorry, but if you need someone. I am here for you Ani." He says sincerely and grabs my hand. I give him a genuine smile as I tell. "I know Luke. Thank you for everything. It really means a lot especially now."

Sam's POV
Michael and I met Calum by the locker room after his pratice. "It smells like sweaty ball sack up in here." I said scrunching my nose. Calum and Michael laughed. "I see why you like her. I always said you were one of a kind Mikey, but obviously your just half of a whole. I'm happy for you guys." A look of sadness over came his face and I felt sad for him. "Thank you Cal. Trust me man it'll work out for you too." he nodded and we walked to Michael's car. "I'll meet y'all at your place. I gotta run home real quick." I kissed Michael quickly and hugged Calum. "See you babe!" I waved goodbye before running off to my car. I pulled up to my house and had just stepped out when Ashton came jogging up drentched in sweat. "Oh hey Ash!" I waved and he smiled. "Sup Punky?" I shrugged. "About to go hang out with friends. What abou you?" he took off his shirt and wiped his face. "About to shower." he shrugged and I laughed. "Good I can smell you from here you nasty." He just laughed and shook his head. "See you Punky." He disapeared inside his house and before I could do the same Luke drove up. "Sam, we need to talk." I sighed and invited him in. "Can you hurry. I'm meeting up with Michael and Calum." He made a face. "That's what we need to talk about." I stopped on my way up the stairs. "I thought we were over this you not liking Michael thing." I said slightly annoyed. "It's not him I'm mad about. We need to talk about Calum." He said more angrily than was nessisarly. "What the hell do you have against him?" I knew exactly what he had against him. If I had noticed no doubt Luke had too. "Look I know you know he likes Ana and I don't even need to tell you why that bothers me, however that's not what I mean. She is heartbroken that not just one but now both of her best friends are hanging with you. It probably wouldn't be such a big deal if you didn't hate her so much. She's lost both of them to you and that's not really fair." His words shocked me. I didn't steal anyone away from anybody. "How dare you. I fell for a boy boo hoo if he was her friend. As for Calum you know exactly why he would rather be around Michael and I, so don't act all self ritous. If you're really concerned. Tell her the truth. Don't blame me! And for your information. She stole the only friend I had. Think about that one Hemmings." And with that I walked to my room and slammed the door. A moment later I heard the front door open and close. This wasn't major. It'd be over in a couple hours, but still I hated fighting with Luke. I quickly changed and ran out to my car to head to Michael's house. When I got there the boys were full swing into a game of Fifa. I sat back on the edge of the couch and waited for a break in the game. "What took you so long?" Michael asked his eyes never leaving the screen. "Luke needed to talk." Michael absent mindedly nodded. I got a text from Ashton a few minutes later.
Ash: what happened why is he crying?
Me: shit he's crying??
Ash: yes? That surprises you?
No...
Me: I'll be there in a bit...
"Hey babe?" I tried to get Michael's attention.  "Hmm?" He said still focused on kicking Calum's ass. "I have to go. Something came up, but I'll try and see you later okay?" He didn't seem to be listening to me. "K." I sighed and rolled my eyes and stood to leave. "Woah! Wait wait wait!" Michael quickly jumped up and I heard Calum curse when the game was paused. "Hey wait what's happening? I'm sorry I'm listening now." I smiled slightly. "My best friend needs me..." I kissed his cheek and he watched me leave with a broken expression on his face. I got home in about ten minutes and walked through the Hemmings front door. "Hi Liz! Luke in his room?" She gave me the go ahead and I rushed up the stairs. "He stopped crying but now he's just sitting on the floor. Hope you weren't busy." Ashton said leaning against his door frame. "Nah its all good. I'll get you if I need you." He nodded and retreated into his room and shut the door. I didn't even bother knocking I just walked into Luke's room and sat down next to him. "You're right aren't you?" He said after a while. "Usually." I said finally turning to look at him. "What if I lose her? I can't lose her..." he put his head in his hands and tucked in. "Luke you can't lose what you don't have." I told him. Harsh but true. "What the hell does that mean!" He got angry all of a sudden. "I just mean you guys aren't dating! I know that when I'm dating a guy I'm really chill but if I'm not, if there's that chance I can lose him to another girl, then I'm nervous. Tell her the truth first though Luke. You know it's the right thing to do." He shrunk back into a little ball. "But Sam... what if she doesn't pick me?" I took a deep breath. "Then she is just as stupid as I thought. Calum is sweet, but honestly you and Ana, as much as it pains me to say so fit together almost as perfect as Michael and me. So take the leap babe. She'll pick you and Michael and I will take care of Calum. Promise." And in those moments I knew that no girl no boy and no amount of drama could take the friendship Luke and I had because he jumped up and pulled me into a hug. In that one hug though I felt how much he appreciated me and needed me and I knew how much I needed him. For the first time in a very very long time everything felt right. "I'll tell her everything tomorrow, but not until after the game."
